Snakes on a Comic

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

I’ve lost track of numbers, but here’s yet another Snakes on a Plane themed comic for the world at large:

Snakes on a Plane DVD Comic

This was drawn/written by Dan Walne (original here). Browsing his site I found that he had recently received the following gift, which seemed awful generous of someone out there:

Snakes on Future Films

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

A few people have been lobbying for some upcoming films to receive the SoaP treatment. Bojac Redleif suggests

I was looking at next year’s films and the next film we all should over hype should be “The Astronaut Farmer“. Look up a few of the pictures from it and you’d agree.

Oh and you suck for not selecting my entry.

Yours Truly
The Honorable Bojac Redleif

And, in a similar vein, Matt Barr pointed out that:

Does everyone know about SOAP’s influence on the Transformers movie? If you go to transformersmovie.com/ you can type a quote for Optimus Prime to say in the movie. Then everyone will vote and…….well we know the rest!

Sadly Armitage112 sort of kicked the legs out from under Matt, though:

**doesn’t know how to break it to Matt that not only is the contest for the Transformers movie over, the 10 finalists were chosen and recorded already. The winners can be found at here**

BTW–as part of the voting audience, I can tell you that someone DID submit something along the line of “Enough is enough! I have had it with these M-F’ing Decepticons on this M-F’ing planet!” Sadly, it didn’t make it to the finals. :-(

Tough luck for all of us, I suppose.

It’s actually rather interesting that Paramount is apparently attempting to learn from its mistakes this summer.  They proved themselves to be decidedly unhip when dealing with the internet fan community… instead of embracing the interactivity that the web allows, they attempted to shut down sites catering to people’s excitement about their film.  They’ve apparently taken a step back and realize that encouraging fan enthusiasm will indeed help them in the long run. Did they take a look at the attention Snakes on a Plane garnered? Or did they simply look at the bad PR they received for going in the opposite direction?

But, then again, this level of interactivity is being controlled entirely by Paramount with no honest/open level of control by the fans.  Perhaps Paramount didn’t learn, perhaps they still feel that they need to control the online community and make sure that the ‘fun’ only takes place in a walled garden, with guards at the gates.

Well, either way, it may be a somewhat cheesy contest, but HOPEFULLY it shows the right attitude.

Snakes on a Sequel Petition

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

Now, I’ll admit that the chances of a Snakes on a Plane sequel seem somewhat grim at this point (that’s based on no inside information, just a general hunch), but Daniel has put together this petition to help bring one about:

To: Robert Shaye co-ceo of New Line Cinema
To: New Line Cinema

This petition is regarding the making of a sequel to snakes on a plane. although we am sure the prospect of a sequel has probably already been raised we would respectfully request that a sequel is made for this truly great movie and that some of the fans can be included in the pre-production phase of any sequel you are considering. We the fans would like to see a sequel made and would appreciate if you would entertain some of our more serious suggestions and include some of our ideas for the proposed sequel

By signing the following form, you are requesting that new line cinema create a sequel to their hit film snakes on a plane and also allow fans to sit at production meetings and give their input to various ideas for a sequel to snakes on a plane.

It currently has an uninspiring 1 signature, but presumable my current readership can bring it up to at least 10.

Snakes on YouTube redos

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

I have gotten SLIGHTLY better at working with video clips and I have posted two new clips on YouTube. One is a repost of an earlier clip from the Gilmore Girls. The other is a longer clip from the second season finale of Weeds which I was unable to get online the first time. You know, if you’re still interested in such things.

Here we go:

Snakes on a Movie Quote Generator

Friday, December 1st, 2006

This one’s actually pretty amusing.  Kevin sent in a link to this movie quote generator that allows you to substitute a random phrase into a series of movie quotes.  Anyway, the phrase “motherfucking snakes” provides some amusing possibilities:

I’ll get you, my pretty, and your little motherfucking snakes, too!

I’m looking for the Army of the Twelve Motherfucking Snakes.

Motherfucking Snakes? We ain’t got no motherfucking snakes! We don’t need no motherfucking snakes! I don’t have to show you any stinking motherfucking snakes!

Keep your friends close, but your motherfucking snakes closer.

There’s a lot more, keep refreshing and they’ll just keep coming.

Snakes on a Christmas

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Man, it’s early. Just a few days after Thanksgiving and I’m putting up my first Christmas themed post. It’s not even December 1st yet, nobody has opened their first advent calendar door! I know some Jews out there who are going to get on my case for this. Save Ferris is probably going to write me a mean letter. Anyway, you knew it was coming, here we go:

Snakes on a Plane Christmas Snakes on a Plane Christmas Snakes on a Plane Christmas

Snakes on a Plane Christmas Snakes on a Plane Christmas Snakes on a Plane Christmas

Once again, thanks to the always surprising CineZombi family for their fine work.

I’m expecting a Snakes on Hanukkah display any day now, either with snake shaped candles or snake shaped candle holders in the menorah. Get cracking, Jews.

Also, for those of you still reading the site, it looks like I’m going to have one final contest for ye faithful in relation to the upcoming DVD-release. I don’t have details yet, but stay tuned, they might pop online AT ANY MOMENT.

Snakes on Thanksgiving

Snakes on a Thanksgiving… err… I guess it’s a very disturbing Thanksgiving:

Also, some users will notice simple math problems are required before posting comments.  I’ve turned this on due to the low frequency of comments these days and the high frequency of spam (my filters have stopped 40,000 attempted spam comments).  It’s been a hassle, so I thought this would cut it down for me.  Sorry.

I liked this picture a lot:

Snakes on a Plane

Nana was kind enough to send it:

I failed to send this earlier, I know, but I would like to show this one off [from the] Six Flags Great America (Illinois). This was actually during fright feast. they changed the name of “The Viper” to “Snakes On A Train.”

Snakes on the Editing Room

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

This came out about two months ago, but I somehow missed it. My network of spies has grown, understandably, smaller as of late. The Editing Room takes films and rewrites them to cut out all the filler, boiling them down to just the bare essentials of the story. Their take on Snakes on a Plane is pretty funny. Here’s a part:

NATHAN PHILLIPS
I’m so nervous about testifying against a crime boss. What if he tries to kill me?

SAMUEL L. MOTHERFUCKING JACKSON
Don’t worry, I’m here to protect you, just like when I rescued you from those thugs in your hotel.

NATHAN PHILLIPS
Actually, I’ve been wondering about that. How did those bad guys find me? For that matter, how did you find me? Nobody saw me for more than a second, and you weren’t even there.

SAMUEL L. MOTHERFUCKING JACKSON
Umm…

Snakes on YouTube

Monday, November 20th, 2006

It’s been pointed out that someone has posted the entire bootlegged camcorder version of Snakes on a Plane on YouTube in 11 pieces. I’m sure by pointing out that it’s online, it’s going to vanish within minutes, but it’s interested that anybody bothers to do such things. Anyway, here’s the first part:

Snakes on a… Wait… Zombies on a Plane

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

It may be called Plane Dead, but it was clearly DESTINED to be called Zombies on a Plane. I’m going to have to imagine that this movie was greenlit sometime in the past twelves months after the hysteria started… it’s just too hard to imagine someone thought of this independently. Oh well, here are some graphics:

Snakes on a Plane Zombies on a Plane Plane Dead

Snakes on a Plane Zombies on a Plane Plane Dead Snakes on a Plane Zombies on a Plane Plane Dead Snakes on a Plane Zombies on a Plane Plane Dead Snakes on a Plane Zombies on a Plane Plane Dead

Snakes on a Plane Zombies on a Plane Plane Dead

It’s got an official website, an IMDB page, a story on Fangoria and a page on the production company’s website. It’s like they’re a real movie… aww… isn’t it cute? Here’s the plot description:

“Plane Dead” is a special effects packed Sci-Fi/Horror/Action thriller about a routine flight from LA to Paris on which a renegade scientist, on the run from the CIA, has smuggled a secret coffin containing the body of a scientist infected with a deadly genetically engineered virus.

The 747 jumbo jet collides with two massive thunderstorms at once which drops it into the eye of an inescapable storm. The non-stop turbulence triggers the release of the infected “flesh eating” scientist from the cargo hold.

A life and death battle ensues as the virus turns the unsuspecting passengers into “the undead” and the terrified uninfected passengers try to survive the flight they wish they had missed.

Now, no government will allow the “infected” 747 jumbo jet to land. Stranded in the air, the passengers have no place to hide from their ravenous tormentors…

flying the deadly skies…

I’m totally unclear as to why the words “flesh eating,” “the undead” and “infected” are in “quotes.” Perhaps they’re not really flesh eating, the undead or infected and it’s all just a subtle metaphor for modern life.

Damned CIA scientists.

Snakes on Weeds

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

If anyone can get me a clip from the most recent episode of Weeds, I’d appreciate it.  I’m looking for video starting at 9:30 and ending at 11:45 in the episode.  I wish I had more technical video editing abilities.

Halloween costumes:

The first two images are from Christine:

Last night I attended my college’s massive costume competition and won first prize with my homemade costume. “Snakes on a Stewardess”. I stitched 25 small rubber snakes to a stewardess uniform, applied zombie makeup, and wore a 5 foot long, plastic cobra named Samuel L. Jackson. Thought that you might enjoy the photos.

Yeah! The third costume was courtesy of Max. Any others out there?

Snakes on a Galactic Plane

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

Nasa has gotten all sorts of weird in anticipation of Halloween and has provided us with images of Snakes on a Galactic Plane:

Something scary appears to be slithering across the plane of our Milky Way galaxy in this new Halloween image from NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope. The snake-like object is actually the core of a thick, sooty cloud large enough to swallow dozens of solar systems. In fact, astronomers say its “belly” may be harboring beastly stars in the process of forming.

“The snake is an ideal place to hunt for massive forming stars as they have not had time to heat up and destroy the cloud they are born in,” said Dr. Sean Carey, also known as “Dr. Scarey,” of NASA’s Spitzer Science Center. Dr

And here are the animated images:

Spooky.

Snakes on New Line II

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

I once thanked New Line for not being Paramount. Apparently I needed to expand that to thanking New Line for also not being Universal or Fox. What is WRONG with these companies?

Snakes on a Faith

Friday, October 27th, 2006

The Internet has let me down.  Why did I need to find out from some newspaper article that Rev. Dr. Jon Dale Hevelone of the First Baptist Church of Arlington posted a 600 word rumination on Snakes on a Plane back in August?!  This is important stuff here people!

Just like the movie Snakes on a Plane provides a perfect release for our biggest fears when air travel and terrorism make us feel that things are out of control, sometimes Snakes on a Faith can be useful.

I wish Pastor Jon’s quasi-blog allowed for comments.
