Snakes on Epic Movie
Wednesday, February 20th, 2008I previously discussed that Epic Movie was going to contain a Snakes on a Plane parody sequence (here and here). The video of that sequence has finally made it online — watch it.
I previously discussed that Epic Movie was going to contain a Snakes on a Plane parody sequence (here and here). The video of that sequence has finally made it online — watch it.
Angry Alien does Snakes on a Plane in 30 Seconds (with bunnies, of course). I saw this first On Demand through Comcast (ironically), but it was apparently done originally for Starz.
I had this posted on my other site for a week before I realized that it mentions Snakes on a Plane and hence fits here. So, here we go, Internet People.
I’m giving a presentation at an upcoming London-based marketing conference (about which I’m terrified, but don’t tell them that) about blog marketing. To go along with my presentation, I’ve cobbled together a little video that compiles a some of the photos, videos and songs that I’ve featured on this site. I’ve put it up on YouTube for anybody’s amusement. Anyone who’s actually supposed to ATTEND the conference, shouldn’t watch the video… it would ruin the surprise. Enjoy:
I had to make this video while offline, so if I didn’t include a good piece of material, it’s probably because I didn’t have it stored on my own personal computer. Sorry about that. If I get a chance, I’ll come back and include links to the sources of the songs and videos… but it can’t happen tonight.
While Snakes on a Plane does not feature on the Epic Movie website panoply of recent film standout characters,
it does feature heavily in the trailer. Here are some screen caps from it:
I have gotten SLIGHTLY better at working with video clips and I have posted two new clips on YouTube. One is a repost of an earlier clip from the Gilmore Girls. The other is a longer clip from the second season finale of Weeds which I was unable to get online the first time. You know, if you’re still interested in such things.
Here we go:
All previous Videos.
It’s been pointed out that someone has posted the entire bootlegged camcorder version of Snakes on a Plane on YouTube in 11 pieces. I’m sure by pointing out that it’s online, it’s going to vanish within minutes, but it’s interested that anybody bothers to do such things. Anyway, here’s the first part:
Who would have thought?
If anyone can get me a clip from the most recent episode of Weeds, I’d appreciate it. I’m looking for video starting at 9:30 and ending at 11:45 in the episode. I wish I had more technical video editing abilities.
My video capturing/editing abilties are weak, but if someone has the technology and the know-how, I’d appreciate it if you could grab the first two minutes or so of last night’s Gilmore Girls. I have the whole episode on my computer, but I’m having a tough time cropping out all the non Snakes on a Plane stuff. Any help would be appreciated. Here’s my bad, bad effort. It’s got an annoying text message in the middle of the screen AND you’ll have to skip past the first minute (”last time on Gilmore Girls”) which isn’t relevant:
In the interim, here’s a transcript:
Girl: Let me bottom line it for you, snakes are gross, snakes are scary and slithery, and do you know where snakes do not belong?
Boy: On a plane?
Girl: They do not belong on a plane.
Boy: It’s not an ideal situation
Girl: They do not belong anywhere except in cages stuck in safes buried deep deep underground. I hate snakes!
Boy: So I’m gathering.
Girl: With their gross no-legged bodies and their scaly scaly skin and their wiggling and their hissing.
Boy: Ok, Laura, I respect your very valid feelings about snakes…
Girl: Thank you.
Boy: But I have to say, we were fairly warned.
Girl: No, no, a movie should not just be its title. Driving Miss Daisy ddin’t all take place in a car, Dancing with Wolves wasn’t one long wolf dance. This was nothing but snakes snakes relentless snakes snakes on a plane snake snakes snakes on a plane!
Boy: This was our fifth bad movie in a row, it’s got to be some kind of record.
Girl: We’ve got to face facts, movies have gotten bad.
Boy: Unless it’s our fault…
Are their names Laura and Chris? I don’t watch Gilmore Girls.
I know you thought the whole Snakes on a Plane thing had peaked, but, well, this one’s new. “The Snake has entered the Colliseum”:

USC Marching band covers Snakes on a Plane
AOL Sports Blog was kind enough to point to the above video and add the following commentary:
Proving that no cultural phenomenon is too overdone for the University of Southern California’s Trojan Marching Band to exploit, this year’s pop-culture song added to the Spirit of Troy repertoire is Cobra Starship’s “Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)”.
I like the big snake walking around the field, but it would have been nice to have some sort of plane, or, of course, Samuel L. Jackson in lieu of the Trojan mascot.
Burger King is getting in on the whole snake phenomenon:

The Daily Show is once again taking on Snakes on a Plane. Why, oh why, didn’t they want to interview me? Oh well, I guess it’s ok. I’m just, you know, sad. The Daily Show was the one interview I wanted to do. Sigh.

Kurt Loder, I don’t think I can get enough of Kurt Loder. I still miss Tabitha Soren, she was the heart of the MTV news team back in the day, but as long as we still have Kurt Loder, there’s no way the news division of MTV can falter. I’m glad to see he has a sense of humor:

Some of you were disappointed with last weekend’s box office numbers. Some of you were disappointed with people who were disappointed with last weekend’s box office numbers. But it’s important to remember that the opening weekend box office numbers are only one manner in a which the success of a film is judged. There is, of course, the film’s longevity. A valid question is, how much will it drop off this coming weekend?
So, the Internet still has a chance to redeem itself in the eyes of media. Maybe. Will people continue going to the theaters for a second weekend in a row? It was number one last week, can it be number one again? It’s up to you. Will you be in the theaters again this weekend?
In a similar vein, thenow has provided a rant/plea for foreigners to pick up the ball considering the lengthy list of international release dates quickly approaching:

Snakes on a Plane has been mentioned on the Daily Show before (1 and 2), but yesterday it was graced with the presence of Samuel L. Jackson:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen more swearing in a Daily Show interview. It’s pretty good.
NBC is coming in a few minutes to tape something for the Today Show. My mom must be very excited.
A few days I posted pictures of Snakes on a Car which was about to compete in a Demolition Derby. Today we’ve got video of said derby:
Third place!
New Line solicited remixed versions of their commercials/trailers from Addictive TV, who are in to that sort of thing. It’s airing on MTV, but here’s a version for your own personal internet:
IGN has posted a lot of videos regarding the film, including a bunch of new clips that went live on August 7th as well as a lot of stuff from Comic-Con.
Also, G4 sent me a promo clip for Snakes on a Plane week, (which I may have missed already, sorry about being so slow) with interviews with Samuel L. Jackson, David Ellis, and some other stuff.

Matt Barr has put out quite a collection of Snakes on a Plane items. He wrote a song, he took the famous kindergartner pictures, he entered a contest, he created Snakes on a Home Birth and now he’s completed what I assume to be his final project before the release of the film. He, along with his class, have filmed:
Like a lot of Matt’s previous work, it’s surprising.
UPDATE 8/27/06: Due to local pressures, Matt has removed the video from the Internet. Sad, sad day.

A few weeks ago I wrote that I was surprised by the apparently legitimate production of Snakes on a Train with this unlikely plotline:
Under a powerful Mayan curse, snakes are hatched inside a young woman, slowly devouring her from within. Her only chance for survival is a powerful shaman who lives across the border. With only hours to live, she jumps on a train headed for Los Angeles. Unfortunately for the passengers aboard, they are now trapped, soon to be victims of these flesh-eating vipers.
At the time, they didn’t have a trailer online, so it wasn’t entirely clear if they were for real. But, hey, they are:
