Snakes on a Sequel Petition

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

Now, I’ll admit that the chances of a Snakes on a Plane sequel seem somewhat grim at this point (that’s based on no inside information, just a general hunch), but Daniel has put together this petition to help bring one about:

To: Robert Shaye co-ceo of New Line Cinema
To: New Line Cinema

This petition is regarding the making of a sequel to snakes on a plane. although we am sure the prospect of a sequel has probably already been raised we would respectfully request that a sequel is made for this truly great movie and that some of the fans can be included in the pre-production phase of any sequel you are considering. We the fans would like to see a sequel made and would appreciate if you would entertain some of our more serious suggestions and include some of our ideas for the proposed sequel

By signing the following form, you are requesting that new line cinema create a sequel to their hit film snakes on a plane and also allow fans to sit at production meetings and give their input to various ideas for a sequel to snakes on a plane.

It currently has an uninspiring 1 signature, but presumable my current readership can bring it up to at least 10.

Snakes on a Dentist?

Has Snakes on a Plane finally found it’s sequel?

Snakes on Shakespeare

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

Shakespeare was far ahead of his time. Here’s an excerpt:

So come, ye traveler, and fix thy mask
Of air upon thy visage. Soft, but breathe
Most normally. Yet offer none who hiss.
For gods in high compartments o’erhead
Have granted me with gilded blades aloft.

Who knew Shakespeare was such a visionary.

Snakes on a Pyschoanalytic Interpretation

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

There’s a lot of symbolism in Snakes on a Plane.

Snakes on a Senate

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Snakes on a Senate. Sure, it’s more than just a PAC, it’s the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and they’re committeed, to, well, I’m not entirely sure. Something about combining movies with snake-themed Republicans. I guess.

Snakes on a Josh Friedman Anniversary

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

It was exactly one year ago today that Josh Friedman posted on his blog his experiences with almost working on Snakes on a Plane. We all have him to thank for this experience. I hope he was invited to the premiere.

Also, does it seem odd that it was exactly one year old on the day of the premiere? Was this really a marketing push from New Line the whole time? I really don’t think it was, but the coincidence is surprising.

Snakes on a Cult

Monday, August 14th, 2006

Is Snakes on a Plane an internet cult?

Undoubtedly the greatest internet phenomenon to grace the world, Snakes on a Plane is our salvation, our hope. The Cultivators of SoaP are dedicated to the promulgation of this fact, and the re-education of humankind.

Samuel L. Jackson was the first Cultivator of SoaP. When presented with the first Book of Truth (the original movie script), he was blinded my the title alone: “Snakes on a Plane.” He needed no further evidence to begin his spiritual journey into the best leading role he would ever fufill. He has been the driving force behind the essence of SoaP, and it is to him that we owe much of our gratitude for enlightening the first among us.

Snakes on a Text Message

Thursday, August 10th, 2006
HorsePigCow has set up a Snakes on a Plane Flash Group at Mozes for people with fancy, high tech, super phones:

I’ve set up a way for SoaP fans to SMS one another and to connect via cell (SMS) during the day of the premiere. Ever use Dodgeball? Kind of like that, but instead of just connecting to your friends to find out what’s on their minds, you connect to like-minded SoaPers…for a limited time period (24 hours) I just wanted to set it up and see what happens…so…here it goes…

How to join up.

[there is no charge, but if you don't have unlimited SMS, you may want to get it] It’s pretty simple:

  1. Just SMS ‘SOAP’ to MOZES (66937)
  2. You’ll get a confirmation message and instructions on how to join the broadcast
  3. Done.

Then:

  1. I’ll send out a couple of messages a week with fun stuff [the first one was how to get Samuel L. Jackson to call your friends]
  2. Then late on the 17th, I’ll send out instructions on how to join the flash group as well as how to post messages to it

From there…who knows?

Anyone ever tried something like this?

Snakes on a Collaborative Dialogue System

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

I’m not entirely clear on what Ning.com is, but SnakesonaPlane.ning.com allows fans to suggest lines of dialogue that they’d like to see in the film and then vote on which suggested lines are their favorites. The current leader:

This is some ELABORATE shit!

Snakes on an Opening Night Kit

FirstShowing has instructions for having your own opening night party. If you send them your plans, they’ll send you free “mini-posters.” I wonder how mini?

Snakes on a Logic Puzzle II

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

I posted a Logic Puzzle for you to enjoy last week, well MacPhile was kind enough to make us one more:

Few people were surprised by the popularity of the New Line Cinema film, Snakes on a Plane, and few were surprised when several other movie studios tried to cash in on its success. Five separate movies were made soon after Snakes on a Plane appeared in theaters, each with a different actor, animal (one featured lemurs), and mode of transportation (in one instance, animals terrorized a small town on a Segway). All 5 movies signed a different major Hollywood actor. Five friends (one was Jake) decided to take in a movie one hot summer afternoon, and each one opted to see the film starring their favorite actor. From the following clues, can you determine each child’s favorite actor, what animals that actor saved innocent people from, what mode of transportation those animals used, and where the movies ranked in gross profit (1st being the highest profit and 5th being the lowest)?

Head over to the site for the rest of the clues and the hidden solution to the puzzle.

Snakes on a Police Stop

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

Crazy Aunt Purl has a funny story about being pulled over by the police for failing to stop at a red light and responding to the police with, well, Snakes on a Plane:

Law: Can I see your license and registration please?

Me: (whimper)

Law: Miss Lastname, did you not see the large, red stop sign that tells cars to stop?

Me: Yes, I know. I am SO SNAKES ON A PLANE.

silence
silence
silence

Law: YOU DID NOT JUST SAY SNAKES ON A PLANE!

Me: (whimper)

Law: “I am tired of these blanketyblank snakes on this blanketyblank airplane!”

Me: SNAKES ON A PLANE!!!!!

laughing

I wonder if this sort of thing would work EVERY time you got pulled over? If I had a car, I’d try it out.

Snakes on an Amazon Guide

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

Amazon lets users make guides about certain topics to educate and direct the uninformed. You could make one about Harry Potter, or rock-climbing… probably about anything. Christopher Locke managed to put together a special one:

So you’d like to… get those mothafvckin snakes off that mothafvckin plane!

The inclusion of the chain-saw on the list is inspired.

Snakes on a Tattoo II

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

Back in April there was a guy claiming he would get a Snakes on a Plane tattoo if enough money was raised. Well, nobody cared enough to pay for him to get the tattoo (plus, if you need to be paid, then you aren’t a true fan). We all knew that someday someone would care enough to do it just for the love of the thing. Well, that day has arrived:

Snakes on a Plane Tatto.jpg

Doz deserves a real Snakes on a Plane style salute (although I don’t know what that would be). He even got a write-up about the tattoo in Giant Magazine, whatever that might be.

Snakes on a Logic Puzzle

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006

Ann was kind enough to create the first Snakes on a Plane based logic puzzle. Here’s the setup:

Pacific Air Flight 121 is in trouble! Some motherfucker has released snakes on the motherfucking plane! Needless to say, the passengers are terrified, but there’s good news! Samuel L. Jackson, that badass motherfucker, is on the flight! Six of the passengers–Barbara, Cindy, George, Mike, Ralph, and Tina–had particularly harrowing encounters with venomous snakes (a black mamba, a boomslang, an taipan, a gaboon viper, a king cobra, and a rattlesnake), but Samuel saved them all from certain death (he strangled one snake with his bare hands). Can you figure out what type of snake each person encountered and how Samuel took it out?

The rest of the information needed to solve the puzzle can be found on the site.  Who can solve it first?

Snakes on more Livejournal Fan Fiction

Sunday, May 21st, 2006

Although we’ve discussed Snakes on a Plane crossover fan fiction before, neverbeen2spain seems to have garnered a lot of support for a mass collection of new work:

So, my challenge to you (and by you, I mean anyone who happens to wander by) is to employ your favorite fandom ability to make SoaP! a wider phenomenon.

Basically I’m asking for fic (any length, any rating), icons, wallpapers, songs, filk songs, playlists, manips, other fanart, vids, cheese doodle art, etc. depicting snakes on a plane in your chosen (big, small, or medium) fandom.

They’re collecting submissions through early June, so check it out if you’re interested. There’s a lot more information.

Snakes on a Top Five list

Friday, May 19th, 2006

TopFive.com presents humorous top five lists of things. Recently they did a list of the top five songs to appear on the Snakes on a Plane soundtrack:

5. Funky Cold Medusa
4. Back That Asp Up
3. Don’t Fear the Viper
2. Venom Man Loves a Woman
1. I Just Coiled to Say I Love You

They were also kind enough to send me a longer list of submissions, they’re all presented below after the break.
