Snakes on a Sequel Petition
December 31st, 2006 at 7:52 pm

Now, I’ll admit that the chances of a Snakes on a Plane sequel seem somewhat grim at this point (that’s based on no inside information, just a general hunch), but Daniel has put together this petition to help bring one about:

To: Robert Shaye co-ceo of New Line Cinema
To: New Line Cinema

This petition is regarding the making of a sequel to snakes on a plane. although we am sure the prospect of a sequel has probably already been raised we would respectfully request that a sequel is made for this truly great movie and that some of the fans can be included in the pre-production phase of any sequel you are considering. We the fans would like to see a sequel made and would appreciate if you would entertain some of our more serious suggestions and include some of our ideas for the proposed sequel

By signing the following form, you are requesting that new line cinema create a sequel to their hit film snakes on a plane and also allow fans to sit at production meetings and give their input to various ideas for a sequel to snakes on a plane.

It currently has an uninspiring 1 signature, but presumable my current readership can bring it up to at least 10.

As amazing as the idea of a SoaP sequel might be, it can never surpass the original.

I refuse to sign it because I don’t want a sequel.

It’s in the past now, people. Enjoy it the way it should be enjoyed: as a memory. Ya gotta stop saying “encore” at some point guys.

i have to disagree with you iqpierce. i think there is room for a sequel. i know that it won’t be as original but i think if we, the fans, can get involved right from the start we can really add something to any sequel. remember the original was never developed from the beggining by fans of the film and only a few scenes where fan inspired. imagine if we had some sort of control right from the start how brilliant snakes on a plane could have been. it could been the first proper studio/fan collabaration. but maybe we could have a better say if a sequel where to be made. even if it is straight to video it would still be fun to do. i know what you are saying about carrying it on but i genuinely believe there is room for a sequel, i mean look at all the other crap that is out there that has had sequels. i don’t think it is much to ask to have a sequel for this film made i mean i am sure they will work out a budget for it that would relate to projected sales, so i do think it is possible and that we should do our best tomake it happen. thank you.

I just don’t see it happening. New Line barely broke even in the theater with SoaP. It’s too early to tell how DVD sales and rentals will help out, but I seriously doubt there will be enough interest from the general population to warrant a sequel.
