Snakes on a DVD

Who’s jealous? You’re jealous! Here’s what came in the mail this morning:

Snakes on a Plane DVD Snakes on a Plane DVD Snakes on a Plane DVD Snakes on a Plane DVD Snakes on a Plane DVD Snakes on a Plane DVD

And, along with it, came a lot of ads.

I took out my DVD of Wonderfalls and threw this new disk into player. I then sat through what felt like fifteen minutes of ads. There were ads for the Soundtrack CD, The Cleaner, The Butterfly Effect 2, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Some Fighting Movie, and The Wicker Man. For no particular reason, here are some images of those many, many trailers:

And FINALLY, the movie:

Also, for your viewing pleasure, I’ve posted the opening DVD sequence on YouTube to give the feeling of the main menu, along with a quick jaunt into the Special Features Menu (until I get yelled at by New Line… we’ll see how long this lasts):

UPDATE: The YouTube link is now working.

It’s down already.

Ha, technically it hasn’t made it up yet. YouTube takes some time to process the video and I didn’t want to wait for the link to become active. It should be good in the next hour or so… I think. Admittedly I’ve been having a tough time with video lately, so maybe it will never work.

Might never make it up if the censors get it. Since Google’s take-over they’ve enforced more copyright laws.

But I’ll keep checking back.

And did you make it on the DVD?

Comment by Neil — December 15, 2006 @ 1:04 pm

Hmm, maybe. I’ll try uploading it again with a less obvious title… maybe the copyright police won’t notice.

Bastards.

Hehe, you lucky bastard. I wish the DVD was being released for the holidays, but the release is still pretty close.

Comment by Lemmy — December 15, 2006 @ 2:06 pm

Yeah, well, it’s to be expected, you little Hollywood suck-up, you. ;-) Way to score!

BTW–Brian’s link says it’s not ready–YET. So give it time. And if you can’t wait, those other links I sent in are still valid. ;-)

Comment by Armitage112 — December 15, 2006 @ 2:50 pm

It actually isn’t the opening sequence from the film, it’s actually the opening sequence of the DVD… it’s a little clip of a plane flying through crowds and then the animated menu sequence. Oh well, YouTube says it’s still processing but I’m losing faith quickly.

Neil wants to know if you made it onto the DVD, son.

Comment by mother — December 15, 2006 @ 4:55 pm

Well mother, Neil should know that I’m studying very hard for an upcoming copyright examination and am not near my TV in order to check on such things. I’ll let him know this evening.

In reality, I shouldn’t have taken the time to take the pictures this morning, but it seemed like a shame to waste the opportunity.

Ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

NOBODY disturb Brian!!!

Thank you.

I get the impression that you’re uploading these videos to YouTube in the least preferable format, requiring a lot of processing time. Their preferred format, I think, is a 320×240 mp4.

Comment by crazymonk — December 15, 2006 @ 7:43 pm

I used my digital camera to record my TV screen. I foolishly set it to the highest quality and the thirty seconds of film came out to 22 megs. That being said, it’s been almost 12 hours and they should have been able to modify it into YouTube format by now.

My GUESS is that I used the name of a movie and the word DVD in my title, which triggers some “have a real person look at this” variable, delaying approval until someone decides it doesn’t violate copyright. Which, of course, it does, so it’ll probably be rejected.

That’s just a guess though. When I get home tonight I’ll try filming it at a lower resolution and uploading it without any keywords in the title/description.

I wish I had the ability to modify video as well as I do to modify images.

stop yapping it up and get back to the books.

And Brian’s mother would personally like to thank New Line Cinemas for giving me the most entertaining year of my life. And, for being so nice to the kid. :-)

so how is the snakesonablog featurette?

Comment by Matt Barr — December 16, 2006 @ 8:12 pm

How did you get a copy on Dec 15th? I ordered the bastard dvd from Amazon UK on the 1st of October. It only just arrived today. They kept moving the effing release date up.

Effed Off in England

Comment by Disco Fish — December 28, 2006 @ 1:12 pm

Disco

Comment by Disco Fish — December 28, 2006 @ 6:12 pm

Hey Disco Fish! Brian got HIS early because he IS–the MAN. He’s got all them inside connections at New Line. The rest of us Yanks gotta wait until Jan. 2 to get our mitts on “SoaP” DVDs. At least you guys got them early! ;-)

Comment by Armitage112 — December 29, 2006 @ 3:59 pm

im not jelouse at all i got the DVD two days ago

Comment by Joe — December 31, 2006 @ 2:51 pm

possibly the WORST commentary track i’ve ever heard. it’s too bad david ellis spends so much time making really bad jokes to appease sam jackson and be cool instead of doing what he should have done when he was shooting: paying attention to his actors. ALL of them, not just the badass one. ellis “jokingly” disses the fantastic lin shaye, barely acknowledges half of his cast, and for some reason, doesn’t even give props to a male flight attendant who pretty much stole the freakin movie. hey, mr ellis: wake up and smell the snakes…

I got home from work, grabbed the kid, and went out to Best Buy (I wanted a new DVD rack anyway), and there before me, right in front of the main entrance, was a full-blown display for the newly-arrived “SoaP” DVDs. The only other time I bought a BRAND-NEW DVD on the day it was released was for the kid’s Christmas present. Usually I get the used versions 3-for-$10 for myself.

I am a sad, sad mamma. ;-)

Comment by Armitage112 — January 2, 2007 @ 11:28 pm

BTW–Wal-Mart has the DVD for the low low price of $14.97–for $19.97, you can get “SoaP” PLUS either “Critters” (have NO idea why they paired it up with THAT) OR–a Wal-Mart exclusive! A CD of songs from ARTISTS FROM SONGS the movie, including a special remix of “Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)” and Trevor Rabin’s “SoaP” theme, actually from the film.
