Snakes on a Soundtrack II
July 12th, 2006 at 3:59 pm

Snakes on a Plane’s soundtrack is now available for order on Amazon (although it won’t ship until mid-August). Here’s the cover:

And the French Snakes on a Plane site has the track listings:

    1. Cobra Starship - “Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)”
    2. Panic! at the Disco - “The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage (Tommie Sunshine Brooklyn Fire Remix)”
    3. The Academy Is… - “Black Mamba (Teddybears Remix)”
    4. Cee-Lo - “Ophidiophobia”
    5. The All-American Rejects - “Can’t Take It (El Camino Prom Wagon Remix)”
    6. The Sounds - “Queen of Apology (Patrick Stump Remix)”
    7. Fall Out Boy - “Of All the Gin Joints in All the World (Tommie Sunshine Brooklyn Fire Retouch)”
    8. Gym Class Heroes - “New Friend Request (Hi-Tek Remix)”
    9. The Bronx - “Around the Horn (Louis XIV Remix)”
    10. Armor For Sleep - “Remember to Feel Real (Machine Shop Remix)”
    11. The Hush Sound - “Wine Red (Tommie Sunshine Brooklyn Fire Retouch)”
    12. Jack’s Mannequin - “Bruised (Remix)”
    13. Coheed and Cambria - “Wake Up (Acoustic)”
    14. Donavon Frankenreiter - “Lovely Day”
    15. Michael Franti & Spearhead - “Hey Hey Now”
    16. Trevor Rabin - “Snakes on a Plane - The Theme”

Now, I can’t figure out exactly where this track listing came from (although it apparently originated from the company putting out the CD: Decaydance Records), but it’s not listed on Amazon and it’s notably missing the two winners of the Tagworld Contest, so I’m curious if the list is accurate. It does otherwise seem to jibe with what we’ve heard previously about the album. Did the Tagworld Contest winners get pushed off?

I think it sounds alright. I can’t wait to find out what the SoaP theme (track 16) is.

This is the correct track list according to the Cobra Starship myspace profile. and If you look at the album description on amazon.com it says:

“the Internet has been flooded with amateur music videos, songs, and even entire blogs dedicated to this movie. Included on the enhanced portion of this CD is the “best of the best” of those amateur creations.”

Perhaps that is where you will find the tagworld winners. It’s pretty lame that they are not on the actual tracklist, I honestly enjoyed both the tagworld songs more than the Cobra Starship song. The tagworld winners are probably not famous enough to help sell this CD. That’s my guess.

Yeah you know because they are not *REAL* bands unless they are signed to a label right? What the hell makes a band amateur if they get paid to play? Because some executive doesn’t think 13-17 year old girls in the midwest will move a few hundred thousand copies, a band is amateur? Super lame ultra bullshit corporate agenda nonsense. the snuffing out of individuality… etc.

Those songs are more real than Cobra Starship because they were created out of a feeling of genuine awesomeness, and excitement for a cause, Not by high priced vanity side projects of already famous acts, and hired guns.

For a movie so special, this move is just so typical, it makes me sick.

this is the guy from fall out boy’s label (decaydance). most of the bands on there are off his label or are somehow friends of his, and most of the songs on there are previously released songs in “remix” form whatever that means. there aren’t more than a couple of new songs on here from what i can see.

Comment by mat1419 — July 12, 2006 @ 7:11 pm

Ok so my understanding of this is that to be on the album(or have a track or video not in the enhanced portion), you just have to be a sycophant of Fall Out Boy. Is that correct?

Comment by Lothar — July 12, 2006 @ 8:31 pm

I wonder how many of these songs will actually be in the movie? Besides “Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)” “Black Mamba” and “Ophidiophobia” the rest of the track names resemble subject lines of annoying myspace bulletins, and one is even daftly titled, “New Friend Request.” Is this the soundtrack to snakes on a plane or the soundtrack to tagworld the movie? A sign of the times I suppose.
Welp… I’m witting some songs right now called “Updatin’ My Profile” “Repost or Else!” and “Check Out My Latest Blog! LOL” I hope my songs catch the ear of the fallout boys, yeah, I’ll be a big rockstar! Get with it!

Comment by Rob — July 12, 2006 @ 9:34 pm

i think that bring it song and the video are pretty damned catchy.

i think they’re really missing the chance to do some awesome stuff with a soundtrack though.

–Gym Class Heroes - “New Friend Request (Hi-Tek Remix)”–

What on God’s green earth is that song doing on S.O.A.P.?!?!?!?!?

Comment by Jim — July 13, 2006 @ 1:55 am

I really, really hope this isn’t real.

Comment by chris — July 13, 2006 @ 1:59 am

So, Brian’s brother was listening to my Sirius radio just now(what a great service satellite radio is, by the way) and called me in to hear the Cobra Starship song, which was playing! I just loved hearing “Snakes on a Blog” coming at me from my radio!

Comment by Mother — July 13, 2006 @ 3:19 pm

you guys are flipping out about this and i herd it on our local radio station and it so much better just listening to it i think. BTW the song wasnt orignally made for just SoaP. Not only that but if your calling the Gym Class Heroes, The Sounds, Midtown, and (the biggest of them all) The Acedemy Is… attention grubbing screen and money whores then see how big they really are. Midtown isnt even together right now. Yeah sorry. I do enjoy the bands that Cobra STarship is in and i enjoy the song.

I like “Bring It,” but this soundtrack is such a disappointment.

Everyone start writing angry emails to Decaydance and Fueled By Ramen now.

Comment by sam — July 14, 2006 @ 5:12 pm

Snakes on a Plane could be the worst movie in the universe, and I would still go see it fifty times. JUST FOR THE SOUNDTRACK.
You people who are saying that this is a disappointment are crazy. How many of you have actually HEARD any of the songs on the track list? There are some amazing songs on this thing!
Honestly, movie soundtracks these days are horrible. This one is a shining tribute to good music and I applaud it. It includes some of my favorite songs from some of my favorite bands. In fact, I’m listening to Wine Red as I type this. That is a crazy good song.
Except for the first song and the last song, I can’t see what any of the songs have to do with snakes… or planes… but they are still awesome songs. As soon as this CD hits the stores, I will buy it. And shame on all of you people for calling it a disappointment. It’s revolutionizing soundtracks with a little thing called good music.
By the way, I love how everything on this site is “Snakes on a *insert object name*” It’s very funny.

The TagWold winners are, in fact, part of the soundtrack’s enhanced content - along with a few of the best home-made videos. As for the tracks actually on the CD, I can’t wait to check it out - some of those remixers are among the most respected in the world.

Comment by denise — July 15, 2006 @ 1:19 am

Has everyone noticed that the record is called “The album”…that means, all you retards, that only a SMALL portion of the soundtrack is probably in the movie itself. But who the fuck cares and who the fuck cares about decaydance?? This is a badass grouping of artists who obviously love SOAP as much as we all do - so deal with it. This record AND this film will rule 2006.

Comment by Juan — July 15, 2006 @ 1:29 am

[...] About the Snakes on a Plane soundtrack album: I commented on the fact that the Tagworld winners didn’t appear on the track listing.  New Line has pointed out that the CD has “ECD” (read: computer) content and the winners will appear in that section.   I think that means the CDs will only play on your computer, and not on a CD player, but someone can correct me on that.  A second email from an independant source at New Line said they’d appear as “special hidden tracks.”  The first email also reminded me that the “song” (I assume they meants songs) would appear in the film as well. I’m a staff writer for a major music publication and i’ve just received a burned advance of this soundtrack. Since i know you will all want me to be honest, let me say this: To my complete surprise, this record is fabulous. It has a really great flow, funny dialogue samples and is most certainly the biggest surprise of the year…it is REALLY GOOD. Believe me, i was skeptical, but this thing will get great reviews and sell like hot cakes.

Comment by toni ann — July 15, 2006 @ 10:09 pm

I saw the video on FUSE TV today. The talked about the soundtrack and said it was the most anticipated rock soundtrack of the year.

Comment by Daniel — July 16, 2006 @ 2:57 pm

The whole concept of SoaP is so refreshing in that it doesn’t take any of the usual Hollywood bullshit seriously.
To get so bent out of shape about the soundtrack goes against the grain of why SoaP is so fantastic in the first place.
It’s just a fucking compilation of songs,not a conspiracy.

Comment by SEP — July 16, 2006 @ 8:13 pm

Emily— as stated before, I like most of the artists on the soundtrack, and Wine Red is indeed a favorite song of mine. But come on. The least I would ask for is some new songs or some b-sides. Best case scenario, they could have had all new songs, all Snakes related… but if that’s too much to ask, I’ll take anything but remixes.

However, toni, the dialogue samples give me hope. At least some ounce of relevance will be put into the soundtrack, and not just Pete Wentz taking the easy way to making more money.

I just think it’s a missed opportunity is all. So much cooler things could’ve been done with this.

Comment by sam — July 16, 2006 @ 11:56 pm

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn’t previously state that I liked most of those bands… but I do, I do.

Comment by sam — July 16, 2006 @ 11:57 pm

By b-sides you mean songs that weren’t released as singles? As far as i know the P!@tD song, the The Academy Is… song, the All American Rejects song, the Gym Class Heroes song, the Armor for Sleep song, and the Fall Out Boy song were not released as singles and were only heard by the people who bought the cd, song or stole the songs and is it really that bad that pete wentz put some of his friends on this cd? I think that he has figured out that he may expose some of his band’s fans to other bands to help his friends out. I’m sure a lot of you would do the same thing for your friends. Honestly they could have done a lot worse as far as soundtracks go.
