UPDATE: Snakes on a Cobra Starship Song
July 6th, 2006 at 11:35 am

Cobra Starship, the lead band on the official soundtrack, finally has their Snakes on a Plane song online. I’m generally reluctant to link to MySpace pages for a variety of reasons, but I don’t really see much way around this one. If anyone has any other links for this, preferably with a downloadable mp3, let me know. For the time being, though, here’s:

Snakes on a Plane (Bring It) by Cobra Starship

And, odd for a real song, they mention this blog. What the hell?

UPDATE posted 7/7/6 at 10:02am: The video has been posted on YouTube:

did I hear an insult towards snakesonablog at the end of that song?

Comment by Magog — July 6, 2006 @ 2:01 pm

No insult–they just said it, for no particular reason that I could fathom–but I don’t think they were dissing us.

Comment by Armitage112 — July 6, 2006 @ 2:18 pm

i’m not so sure it was a diss. I think it was more so props. Without us theyre wouldnt be such a blow up over this movie.

I personally think the songs super badass…hope you guys agree and enjoy!

Comment by Cullen — July 6, 2006 @ 6:22 pm

Isn’t the lyric “snakesonablog bend over, grab your ankles, and kiss your ass goodbye”?

Comment by Magog — July 6, 2006 @ 7:42 pm

but he also lists out a few other things like midtown which if you dont know was his other band.

Yes those are the lyrics though Magog, but just in general hes not dissing hes making the name more obvious.

Comment by Cullen — July 7, 2006 @ 12:12 am

I agree that the song is GREAT! However, I also think the end lyrics a bit negative towards us SOAB-ers. The “kiss your ass goodbye” list is comprised of “midtown, downtown, and snakesonablog”. If “midtown” is his old band, is it not reasonable to think he may be dissing them too? Lynard Skynard to Niel Young style? I like the song, but I see where Magog’s comments are valid.

Comment by Matt Barr — July 7, 2006 @ 1:04 am

Do my ears deceive me, or do I hear the actual Samuel L. Jackson line we have all been waiting for?

“That’s IT! I have had it with these motherfuckin’ snakes on this motherfuckin’ plane!”

Comment by Caushmouziar — July 7, 2006 @ 7:46 am

Caushmouziar–nope, you’re not losing it just yet–I’ve heard that line in other places before–that’s our Man SLJ! :-)

Comment by Armitage112 — July 7, 2006 @ 8:45 am

Forget about the insult…you hear the famous line!!!

Comment by hehateme — July 7, 2006 @ 8:56 am

ok, the rapping is playful!…be honored, more exposure! its what he does- he is from gym class heroes, check out the other stuff. its kind of stupid humor but decent (funny live?)
anyways, i google searched..
VIDEO and MP3 here- http://community.livejournal.com/theacademyis
i love you

Comment by Andrew — July 7, 2006 @ 9:39 am

ahhh, and the kiss you ass goodbye is a warning for the people on the plane….not you guys! watch the video…kind of stupid, i admit

I thought they namechecked you guys. Awesome!

Comment by Tiffany — July 7, 2006 @ 11:39 am

AHHHHH!! SAMUEL’S IN THERE!! He’s sitting in the lobby reading —WHAT???–and wearing a “SoaP” shirt??? How COOL IS this guy?!!

Comment by Armitage112 — July 7, 2006 @ 12:35 pm

Oh yeah–the song’s good, too. ;-)

Comment by Armitage112 — July 7, 2006 @ 12:36 pm

what the hell was that? they’re like a cross between fall out boy and black eyed peas. ugh.

Comment by chris — July 7, 2006 @ 12:53 pm

Went back a few days and checked out the pic Brian posted with Cobra Starship posing with Samuel L.–they all look like they’re wearing the same outfits as in the video, so I guess it’s safe to say, SLJ IS wearing a “SoaP” shirt in the video! Good, now I can sleep tonight! ;-) Still can’t tell what he’s reading–maybe the comic-book adaptation???

Comment by Armitage112 — July 7, 2006 @ 1:43 pm

it’s definitely not a diss. especially since he says midtown and that’s the lead singer’s other band. that’s how the gym class heroes/travis work.

and for the record, this isn’t a band. cobra starship is just the one lead singer’s funny sideproject. the others are guest vocals. he did a really funny song “hollaback boy”. uh just thought people might want to know :) or maybe not.

Comment by sarah — July 7, 2006 @ 5:52 pm

What a fucking garbage song! What, the Black Eyed Peas weren’t available?!?!? I hate those garbage bands where of course, someone has to FUCKING rap!!! UKKKKKKKK! HOW UNORIGINAL!!…..I hope they all are killed by the snakes on the plane….

Best 2 parts of the song
The famous line at the beginning
The end of the song

Comment by hehateme — July 7, 2006 @ 6:09 pm

I’m not really a big fan of the song or the genre, but the song is about SOAP and SLJ is in it so it’s OK by me.

Comment by John — July 7, 2006 @ 6:43 pm

i just saw the video and i throughly enjoyed it. I’m a Midtown, Gym Class Heroes, The Sounds, AAR, and The Academy Is…

This is just a joke have fun prject that Gabe of Midtown does and i like it. But hey to each his own.

If that doesnt work well it has SLJ in it.

Comment by Cullen — July 7, 2006 @ 7:01 pm

Ok, I realized I was a bit harsh…

yes, the line is in it
yes, it has SLJ in it wearing a fan shirt
and yes, it’s about the movie…

I just wish they would have been more daring instead of getting some Black Eyed Peas clone band to do it.

It was just unimaginative to me…thought that some of the fan made music was better than that. I was a fan of the song “Serious Problem”…I loved the hook, the sound of the song, and it seemed kinda real, and not forced.

Comment by hehateme — July 7, 2006 @ 8:43 pm

This song is a joke without a punchline. Hey, let’s throw money at these four boring vocalists!

Comment by Man — July 7, 2006 @ 11:47 pm

and you know what’s worst…it’s so obvious that the band was made up last minute just to get noticed (go ahead guys, find me a die hard COBRA F’ING STARSHIP fan, someone that’s been around for longer than 2 months…the person will come on here and say to me “yeah, maaaaannn, I was with Cobra Starship in the 1990s…ASSHOLE! so much you know”

No, what happened was one corporate suckup called another corporate suckup and said “hey, we need a hip trendy band…Black Eyed Peas cost too much, just get me 4 idiots and put them together…WAIT! I KNOW…WE’LL CALL THEM COBRA STARSHIP TO FIT IN WITH THE MOVIE, AND THEN WE’LL MAKE THEM RELEVANT TO POP CULTURE, THEY’LL BE A HALF A HIT WONDER, AND WE’LL MAKE LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEEYYYYY!!!”

ukkkkkk!

Comment by hehateme — July 8, 2006 @ 8:27 am

have you not read the other posts???? No one made up Cobra Starship other than Gabe Saporta of the band Midtown.. he had another song under the same band name, called Hollaback Boy.. poking fun at well.. the obvious.. Gabe is an incrediably smart and talented guy .. which has nothing to do with any corporation.. so learn your facts before you run your mouth. The other people in said “hip trendy band” ? His friends that just happen to be in other bands.. come on.. don’t dis on things if you don’t know anything about it.. and if you want to dis on things.. learn about it first.. so you don’t look so dumb.

Comment by Cullen — July 8, 2006 @ 5:34 pm

best song of the year. this thing is genius and fully respects the movie.

Comment by adam — July 8, 2006 @ 8:45 pm

Not sure about “genius” but it is damn catchy and actually makes me want to see the movie even more. And by the way, Black Eyed Peas are a completely wack manufactured pop act, and this is a legitimate one-off band of friends (ALL Warped Tour vets) doing something for the fun of it. Yes, its opportunistic, but WHO cares? I’d rather see cutting stuff like this then some lame-ass kanye-MI3 BS. It rocks and its fun - just like I bet the movie is.

Cannot get this song out of my head. I’m going insane here. Is that Pete Wentz on the pay phone?? That is too fucking cool. And yes, total SOAB call-out. Smash hit song fer sure.

Comment by denise — July 12, 2006 @ 12:59 am

OK–what’s the difference between the EXPLICIT version and the CLEAN version (as seen on YouTube and other sites)? Does the CLEAN one not have our Man’s line in the beginning, and leave out the part about “Kiss your a** goodbye” at the end? I just don’t feel like watching both versions right now. Thanks for humoring me. ;-)

I like it, it’s catchy! I don’t take it seriously tough, it’s something to laugh at. I wanna see the movie, I mean just by the title, I know it isn’t gonna be all that great, but it will probably entertain me.

[...] Snakes On A Plane (Bring It) (Music Video) by Cobra Starship [...]

Pingback by Snakes on a Blog » Snakes on Enhanced Content — July 31, 2006 @ 11:58 am

OK.. lol for the person complaing about the group “Cobra Starship” if youd do the research youd know that the group is a side project by Midtown’s Gabe Saporta and not a last min. attempt at a BEP rip. — “In an interview with Buzzine.com, Saporta offered that the project’s name came from a jacket he had with the word “Cobra” on it and from another jacket he had that said “Starship Disco.” Rock Sound magazine reported, however, that the name is a subtle play on the name “Jefferson Starship” which was formerly known as “Jefferson Airplane;” substituing “Cobra” for Jefferson, the name would be “Cobra Airplane”–a reference to the band’s first single, “Snakes on a Plane (Bring it).” — As for the “dis” at the end, has anyone considered that “kiss your ass good bye” is like saying “youre gonna be blown away by this” ??? In the end, its a good song with a good sound that helps build hype. :)

Comment by Snakebait702 — August 3, 2006 @ 1:51 pm

The only good things about this video/song is that ‘the’ line is in it, its about Snakes on a Plane and that Samuel L Jackson is in it. The song is mediocre, it’s catchy yes, but not my thing. I was hoping for something a bit more rock n roll. Plus why does that bloke from Fall Out Boy (the one on the pay phone I think it was) have to be in it? They’re crap and have nothing to do with the film apart from being on the soundtrack.

Still fucking awesome film. The cinema I went to fucked up the release date and not many people knew it was showing so the cinema was empty which is a real shame cos I would have loved to have seen it with a huge crowd. Oh well, I’ll just have to go and see it again lol.

Comment by some random bloke who loved Snakes on a Plane — August 22, 2006 @ 12:40 pm

It isn’t “snakes on a blog” but “snakes on the block.”

Comment by bob — August 30, 2006 @ 4:47 pm
