Snakes on an Official Trailer (UPDATED)
June 26th, 2006 at 10:43 pm

I have to go fast, but a new trailer is available online.

UPDATE posted 6/29/06 at 1:00am: David Ellis confirmed in his interview that there will be no official, full length trailer.  Instead there will be a series of five short trailers that will be released every week or two.  Look forward to four more of these.

Looks like another teaser / TV spot… way too short to be an official trailer trailer.

WHEN will we have the full-length trailer, O DRE?

Maybe it’ll be attached to Superman Returns….

Arrrrgh. I just found out that the netherlands (where I currently am) will not have SoaP until…September 14th!!…this is so tragic because August 18th is my birthday!

If I wanted to make a complaint about this who would I write to?, whose fault is it? Its the worst thing ever that a film which relies on ‘being in on it’ and ‘up to date’ and ‘with it’ has different release dates which will instantly take me out of this loop. It just won’t be worth watching if I’m one of the last ones in on the joke if you get what I mean :(

“At 30,000 feet—snakes aren’t the deadliest thing on this plane”–enter SLJ!!!

OH YEAH! That’s what I’m talkin’ about!! Thanks for the links, Brian and Tama!! :-D

“It’s my job to handle life and death situations. And I’m very good at it….. MOTHERFUCKER!!!!”

So beautiful!

New colour-changing snakes have been discovered. This definitely call for a second SOAP movie, wherein rare snakes are being shipped out of Borneo on a plane for research, with Samuel Jackson piloting the aircraft.

Someone told me this trailer was before “The Breakup” Could that possibly be right?

Comment by AnyankaBunnyfear — June 27, 2006 @ 4:18 pm

Meh. Kinda dissapointed…..I was expecting a much better tagline than “snakes aren’t the deadliest thing on this plane”.

Comment by irrelivent — June 27, 2006 @ 6:11 pm

irrelivent–hey, it beats “Relax. They’re first class fliers.”

Comment by Armitage112 — June 27, 2006 @ 6:36 pm

Its seems like they just threw the trailer together to make sure no one forgot about the movie. There was nothing to build suspense or excitement at all - it just sounded like some guy holding a conversation with the radio in the background.

I started following SoaP in early February, before the HUGE media hype, and I liked the idea of a novelty movie with a fun and quirky name. Now that it has gotten popular, a lot of the higher-ups seem to understand that the movie is practically selling itself, so they skip out on things like A GOOD THEATRICAL TRAILER. I mean, even though they are from two different production companies, Chain Reaction had a better theatrical trialer than this - and im not alone when I say, “man, that movie sucked”.

Nothing can deter me from seeing the film, but because of its pre-release appeal and b-list plot New Line has become lazy in its promotion. They cut and paste shots from the movie together and kind of just lay it there to up the hype. Its a shame that SoaP isnt getting the respect that the anticipated highest grossing film of 2006 should get.

relax everyone, this is not a trailer. it’s a television spot cut specifically for a Sam Jackson interview on cable. more trailers and spots to come.

The book is alot like the movie based on the trailers i’ve seen. A lot of the quotes are dead on to the book. So i don’t think Faust took a lot of liberties in the book

Comment by Dr Wolf — June 27, 2006 @ 10:42 pm

Tell me…I did not see a spear gun…just tell me..I didn’t see that…please, will ya?

Comment by hehateme — June 28, 2006 @ 12:28 am

I understand New Line not wanting to blow their load too soon, but J_Higgs is right: New Line is getting lazy. Apparently, they think that their job marketing the movie is finished, when it hasn’t even begun. There are still people who a) haven’t heard of the movie, or b) think it’s a big joke. Get off your duffs, New Line, and earn your money.

Also, that snake coiling under the seat looked RIDICULOUS.

DO NOT CRITICIZE NEW LINE DAVID ELLIS OR SOAP YOU INFIDELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Snakes in Europe — June 28, 2006 @ 2:27 am

Tell me…I did not see a speargun….please…

so far, in both trailers the weapons count is as follows..

A fire extinguisher
An axe
A speargun
A tazer
Another snake
A lunchtray (my favorite so far)
A gun (I think)..

This is almost an ECW caliber hardcore match, just with snakes..

I’m praying for the bazooka…

And according to my predictions in one of the fake trailers/scenes I wrote on IMDB..I’ve gotten

The oxygen mask dropping down with snakes
The term “Kiss my asp” was used…

Comment by Michael — June 28, 2006 @ 9:21 am

i will admit as well, i thought this teaser was fairly un snake worthy. the first one was great but this one looks like, well, nothing. no suspense, no creepy snakes on a plane feel, just a bad narrator and really bad samuel l jackson and snakes on a plane text font. hmph…we can do better than this new line. much much better, just like we can make the unrealistic green curled snake better. don’t f*ck this up this m*the$f@^*in movie with a crappy m@therf*&$in teaser trailer.

Comment by susang — June 28, 2006 @ 1:50 pm

OMFG an ECW reference! I would positively explode in mark out-ness if Sam Jackson bodyslammed a python, eyes all bugged out, leaned over to a passenger and yelled “GET THE TABLES!!”"”

ECW ECW ECW ECW ECW ECW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Snakes in Europe — June 28, 2006 @ 5:03 pm

(Sam Jackson sets up table..and then lights it on fire…)
SLAM….

OHHHH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDD! (cobra then bites Joey Styles in the face)

Comment by hehateme — June 29, 2006 @ 1:24 am

SOAP cries out for a running ECW commentary track on the DVD

Comment by Snakes in Europe — June 29, 2006 @ 12:19 pm

(snake bites girl in face, and then gets a cheese grater taken to the top of it’s head…)

passengers start chanting “HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!”

Comment by hehateme — June 29, 2006 @ 6:17 pm

then the BWO run out, yell “We’re taking over” and promptly get beaten down by the passengers, SLJ, and the Snakes….

ah memories……RIP ECW

Comment by Snakes in Europe — June 30, 2006 @ 3:36 am

Does that mean that Sabu could use the “arabian snakebuster” move?

Comment by hehateme — June 30, 2006 @ 6:15 am

We saw one of the trailers on The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It was so exciting! I loved the extreme in-your-face badness of the movie we went to see, but seeing the SOAP trailer was a great surprise, and easily the best thing about the evening. There weren’t many people in the theater, but the trailer elicited a little cheer from everyone there.

Comment by Steph — June 30, 2006 @ 9:01 am

I just saw a new TV spot / teaser than defines various phobias, ending with snakes on a plane
