Snakes on a Blog
UPDATED: Snakes on a Soundtrack
June 21st, 2006 at 2:56 pm

My limitless network of spies just passed along this piece of information:

The soundtrack for Snakes on a Plane will be released on August 15th. In addition to the score by Trevor Rabin, it will include original songs written for the film by Cee-lo (the lead singer of Gnarls Barkley), Donavon Frankenreiter, Cobra Starship, Spearhead, and the first and second place winners from the Tagworld Contest.

So, hopefully we’ll be hearing two good Tagworld songs on the soundtrack, if Tagworld ever gets around to announcing the winners. (By the way, I’ve checked with them and they claim they’re going to be announcing a winner this week. Don’t hold your breath.)

Updated 7/21/06 at 7:10pm: Also, here’s a lengthy story about Trevor Rabin scoring the movie which includes a few pictures of the orchestra, David Ellis and Trevor Rabin.

Gnarls Barkley?? If it’s half as good as “Crazy”, it’s a definite hit!

I wonder if they released snakes in the orchestra pit to ‘motivate’ the musicians!!!

[...] Both of those songs were snakes-related which is good (I was worried Hollywood.mp3 was going to make the cut). They’re both now going to appear on the soundtrack. Congrats. [...]

[...] Now, I can’t figure out exactly where this track listing came from (although it apparently originated from the company putting out the CD: Decaydance Records), but it’s not listed on Amazon and it’s notably missing the two winners of the Tagworld Contest, so I’m curious if the list is accurate. It does otherwise seem to jibe with what we’ve heard previously about the album. Did the Tagworld Contest winners get pushed off? [...]
