“You’re wrong,[sic] Shranky Danky[sic] won’t make it cuz[sic] they rap white [sic] like 1992.” - Jeff Timbern

Yo, it’s Yurple Reign from Shranky Drank again. I just wanted to thank any of you SoaB readers that took the time to cast some votes in this contest, especially if any of those votes were directed at the Drank. All of you supporters know what’s up. And you haters? Well, if you don’t know, now you know, neighbor.

One Love,
Yurple Reign

God… some of these songs aren’t even Snakes on a Plane related. Jesus, just listen to that “Legaci” crap… ugh.

Comment by Boots — May 27, 2006 @ 12:17 pm

What happened to Fly Snakes Fly, that was a really great song that is very famous, and surpriseingly wasnt even on the list.

Comment by Empire_ian — May 28, 2006 @ 12:02 am

Seriously. What the hell? Damn “Legaci” are just trying to get a free ride to the top on SoaP. Well, lets all just hope there are some snakes on their plane ride…

This obviously didn’t make the list but I thought you might get a laugh,

Here’s my prediction for tomorrow: Either Kandice Melonakos was hand picked to win the contest or she has her own personal pet webmaster who gave her a nice custom TagWorld-branded custom flash menu and put up a nice set of TagWorld tutorial pages!

Comment by nostramoronus — May 29, 2006 @ 5:43 pm

God, I hope not.

I am truly bummed that “Baby Baby Baby (Shed Yo’ Skin)” isn’t in the running. SoaP needs — NEEDS — a silky-smooth (if only because they can’t shave yet) boy-band ballad. Foo.

Comment by Carl! — May 30, 2006 @ 10:20 am

Shranky Dank your stuff still stinks. No matter how many times youvoted for yourself.

As for Kandice, that does look really suspicious. New Line has a real chance here to put a cool song on the soundtrack. Two legitamately good Snakes songs made the finals. Nispy and Former Fat Boys are terrific tracks that would bang on a soundtrack. They have hooks that stick out.

Other than those two the only songs that have a chance are songs by bands like Kandice that are recorded well and performed well (hit notes, on tempo…etc.) no one in their right mind would put shranky dank on anything. or any of the other snakes songs in there.

holy sweet mother of god! this is a fine collection of the worst songs i have ever heard in my entire life. i can’t decide who is more annoying: the idiots who think that they are funny, or the losesrs who think that they are viable musicians and are getting their “big break”. the only song on this list that didn’t cause instant projectile vomitting was the ’so many dynamos’ song. that should not be taken as a comliment either. i can only rest comfortably hoping that whatever song is selelcted will be pushed off to the end of the credits.

also, i hope that jc cannegeiter dies a horrible horrible slow and painful death. preferrably the venomous bite of agkistrodon contortrix pictigaster.

i hope nobody wins.

well if you hate JC, then you should at least mildly enjoy the dedication to him here:

Check out the TagWorld page today–they said “We need more time–come back next week” to see the winners. Wussies.

Comment by Armitage112 — June 1, 2006 @ 3:44 pm

Just thought I’d mention the final count had The Wizzerds of Rhyme at 500 votes and Vulvaluxe at 496. I’m not sure what happened with that. I even double checked before they took down the voting page. You might want to give TagWorld a holler and let them know, since this was a SOAP song.

Comment by nispy — June 1, 2006 @ 9:29 pm

I think its interesting to see how many plays each song in the finals have had.

How did songs with 1200 votes only get 30 or 40 listens on Tag World?

Then there’s a few bands like the Former Fat Boys that have over 6,000 plays on Tag World.

Comment by Jeff Timbern — June 2, 2006 @ 6:04 pm

I’m super pleased with the results. I’ve listened to most of the finalists and nearly all them are super sweet. Jeff Timbern may be a fan/member? of Former Fat Boys, who do have a pretty sweet song., but I think negative campaigning is completely uneccessary. As for Shranky Dank, they make up for low production quality with sweet lyrics. Refrences to Hiroshima and September 11th… it might keep you out of the movie, but not out of my heart I still would love to hear the Guesstimates, but would be pleased with nearly all the songs.

Comment by Snakes on an Inclined Plane — June 2, 2006 @ 7:09 pm

I don’t think that Jeff Timbern has taken into account that not all people get their SOAP music from Tag World. Some of these bands including his beloved Former Fat Boys play live shows and I am sure they have asked for and gotten votes that way.I bet some of them even have the songs posted on other websites. Some of my friends couldn’t even get the songs to play on Tag World with their computers.

I wonder if any of the bands got any radio airplay with their SOAP songs yet.

Tag World should put together a CD of the best SOAP songs.

I, like others, am a self-appointed member of Kandice’s street team. Kandice is NOT affiliated with nor hand-picked nor assisted by Tagworld. I took the screen shots for her “tutorial” myself using “SnagIt” software. It had nothing to do with Tagworld. She wanted the “How-To” page on her site because she kept getting the same questions from new people all the time. It saved her time.

Stop being so suspicious and competitive, guys. There is no conspiracy. Her flash header was done by another tech guy who plastered a big annoying ad on her front page and has used her traffic to get himself business. It is OBVIOUS the header was NOT done by Tagworld. Other tech guys help her too with different softwares, games, graphics, and sites. Why assume it’s Tagworld? She is a software model with attitude and it is obvious she has a geek following.

Comment by John — June 3, 2006 @ 2:38 pm

Yeah, you would have to be some sort of real geek to get into that music, huh?

Comment by Guy — June 3, 2006 @ 3:20 pm

Just want to remind you guys that the SoaP contest is not the Superbowl of music, nor a contest to determine whose song is the most snakeish, nor a game to determine whose musical dick is bigger. Every song was creative, and some were downright great. I think they should all be proud regardless.

Comment by John — June 3, 2006 @ 10:25 pm

I agree with the gist of that, John. The issue’s more complex than who’s the better songwriter, though. This contest wouldn’t have taken place without all this internet hype for the movie, so it’s assumed by this community that the contest is for SoaP parodies. Kandice seems to get that, and I don’t hold anything against her…but people will still be irked if she wins.

Comment by Guy — June 4, 2006 @ 4:08 pm

[...] I posted a song written by the Former Fat Boys a while ago. They recently were in the top 25 at the Tagworld contest and are in consideration for a spot in the soundtrack. Here’s a short video of them doing thier song in concert (including a cameo by George W. Bush). [...]
