Up until now, only English speakers could enjoy all that is Snakes on a Plane. Well, that is no longer the case. This Snakes on a Plane site is on a french server and, unsurprisingly, written mostly in French (with the phrase “snakes on a plane” being the major excpetion). I’ve gone to the trouble of snagging thier content, but I’m sure they’ll be updating so you should consider checking their site regularly if, you know, you’re french. Here’s what they’ve got:

le soap le soap le soap

le soap le soap le soap le soap le soap

le soap le soap le soap

They’ve even got a comic:

le soap

Can anyone translate this?

Seems Google Translator and BabelFish are one and the same–I got the same thing with them. Man, I wish I’da paid attention in high school French class. :-p

My French is pretty bad, but I’ll give it a shot–

Blonde: Lovers on a Plane is cool. What film are you gossipping about?
Brunet: Snakes on a Plane!
Blonde: And you suggested Ray Charles for pilot, right?
Brunet: Exactly!

Not sure about the first line. I feel certain that there’s an idiomatic phrase eluding me. Either that, or, you know, it’s been ten years since I took a French class. Either way!

I read it as:

- This romantic flight is cool. What film did you order?
- Snakes on a Plane!
- I suppose you also asked for Ray Charles as pilot?
- Sure did!

Twenty years since my last French class. On the other hand only one and a half since I lived in Paris.

oliversudden — I’m so glad you posted an accurate translation because honestly, that first line was driving me nuts because I just couldn’t seem to make sense of it. I was breaking out the reference books when I came back to see if anyone’d responded…

Jules emailed me this translation:

“This romantic plane trip’s a really cool idea.”

“So what movie did you ask them to show?”

“Snakes On A Plane.”

“And you suggested Ray Charles as pilot?”

“Exactamundo.”

(Actually, ‘exactement’ translates literally as ‘exactly’, but with the Samuel Jackson connection, you just have to go with ‘exactamundo’…)

Yours in admiration,

Snakes on a What?
Snakes on a Blog documents my quest to attend the Hollywood premiere of Snakes on a Plane. If I'm really lucky, this blog will do more than just document the quest, it will aid it. Read my first and second pleas.
