Snakes on a Contest Update
May 11th, 2006 at 11:38 am

There are now 12 hours remaining until midnight (EST), at which point I will stop taking suggestions for the contest.  I’ll put the voting up either tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Due to the number of people who have made the same suggestions, I’m going to limit the prize to only the first two people have suggested a particular name.

I’m sorry about this, and if anyone is furious at me, I’ll understand.  I haven’t tallied the votes yet, but I didn’t anticipate the number of people making similar suggestions.  When multiple people have made the same suggestion, I’ll attempt to email them to let them know if they were or were not one of the first two to suggest it.

I’ll post the voting with no names attached.  When the voting is done I’ll announce the winners and also post the full list of suggestions along with how many people suggested each name (again, without names).

Any serious objections from the peanut gallery?

I’m going to cull the list down to the best few, any advice on how many options I should present for the vote?  I was thinking ten, but that might be too many.  How do you feel about it?

This contest is a little difficult because there are so many of us, and there’s only so much you can do with snakes. On a plane.

Here’s my suggestion:
If you could acknowledge (if not award) other people who came with the exact name, that would be cool.
I know that if the winning entry has the same name that I (or 8 other people) came up with (but not the first) I’d like to be acknowledged for that.

Oh yeah, 10 sounds good.

10 is fine, keep the submissions anonymous until after the voting.
Also, give props to whoever also came up with the winning idea, but was too slow in submission.

And post the winnders pic, if he/she wants, its good to put a face to a name.

Might I suggest having voting until one entry receives a majority of the votes? If no entry has a majority, have a run-off

Snakes on a (in) Europe, you’ve inspired me to take a glamourshot. 10 is a good whole number. I like the way you talk.. err, think.

Aslong as I get my suggestion I’ll be fine with it

So send me an email so I know if I need to send in more submissions
