Snakes on a Tagworld Contest - Day 3
April 22nd, 2006 at 12:37 am

The Tagworld saga continues. Thanks to snakecharmer for continuing to create running vote tallies (since Tagworld chooses not to):

10. Wizardz of Rhyme w/Planes on a Snake 112 votes (SOAP)
9. Runaway Pheonix with Snakes on a Plane 123 votes (SOAP)
8. Ben Rusch with Wash Your Mouth Out 136 votes
7. Former Fat Boys with Snakes on a Plane 138 votes (SOAP)
6. 50412 with Snakes on a Plane 140 votes (SOAP)
5. Zachery with Serious Problem 155 votes (SOAP)
4. John Elkins with Keep it Moving 168 votes (BS)
3. The guesstimates w/Two Snakes on a Plane 175 votes (SOAP)
2. Hollywood.mp3 at 325 votes (BS)
1. Futuristic Sex Robots w/Snakes on a Plane at 378 votes (SOAP)

Since Tagworld has a bunch of songs that weren’t written by true Snakes on a Plane fans, it’s been suggested that we create a list of songs to encourage people to listen to and consider voting for. Clearly the songs in the top ten are already covered, but what other songs have you voted for that aren’t listed?

Let’s make sure New Line has a solid selection to chose from (none of this Hollywood.mp3 crap).

The Ryan Workers Union Local 518 would like to put their support behind the Guesstimates in these 2006 elections. Go Guesstimates!

Comment by Ryan — April 22, 2006 @ 12:24 pm

Anyone know when voting ends for this contest?

Comment by snakecharmer — April 22, 2006 @ 12:31 pm

“noodles with teeth” by jenny’s midnight screamatorium. ’nuff said.

Comment by kit less — April 22, 2006 @ 12:32 pm

Noodles with Teeth has always had my vote, but it doesn’t seem to be getting love from the Tagworld peeps. We need to spread the word kit less

Comment by snakecharmer — April 22, 2006 @ 1:10 pm

Everyone should check out the band “Asp” on Tagworld. The lyrics and intro to the aong are AWESOME!

Comment by Matt Barr — April 22, 2006 @ 1:20 pm

snakecharmer -how can we spread the word?

Comment by kit less — April 22, 2006 @ 1:32 pm

Other boards… other blogs… kit less, Let your voice ring proudly to the far corners of the internets. or just post about them and the contest on the IMDB board that gets tons of people.

Comment by snakecharmer — April 22, 2006 @ 1:49 pm

Ohhhhh man, JC Cannegieter heard our diss track and he is PISSED. He’s talking about a “battle.” If you’re down, talk some shit on our tagboard now that you’ll know he’ll read it and I don’t delete posts.

Comment by legit h — April 22, 2006 @ 2:13 pm

Hahaha I love the number of JC’s soccer moms that post on my site trying to put me down for asking him to declare his support for the SoaP movement (which he still refuses to do).
Best comment left to me so far :

“You are a phoney baloney”

I gotta make that my sig.

Comment by snakecharmer — April 22, 2006 @ 2:42 pm

New list will be coming later today…and its got FSR really pulling ahead. If I can get when the contest is gonna end I’ll start doing a top 25 around the last day to see if your song has made it to the big time. Until then keep shooting for the top 10 that will assure you a spot in front of New Line execs.

Comment by snakecharmer — April 22, 2006 @ 2:45 pm

Hahaha Mike D from my group went on his blog and got this one from one of his menopausal fans.

“you are a rude disgusting piece of crap you need to grow up. We dont need creeps like you around. NO VOTE LOSER”

Comment by legit h — April 22, 2006 @ 3:11 pm

I like Peter_Panic “No Place to Hide.” Its lyrics are pretty hilarious, and the song is catchy, yet just as ridiculous as the movie itself. Sammy L. would be proud.

Comment by Jeff — April 22, 2006 @ 4:35 pm

If anyone wants confirmation that all the votes have been legit, email this guy, he can vouch for all of them:

mlawson4008@comcast.net

I also want everyone to know that the song was definitely inspired by the movie and isn’t me trying to make myself a 5-second celebrity…I’m a fan of the movie, it’s all good.

Comment by ben rusch — April 22, 2006 @ 5:09 pm

then again, i shouldn’t say ALL of them, because I don’t know a bunch of the people who have voted, but you get the idea

Comment by ben rusch — April 22, 2006 @ 5:10 pm

Thanks for the comments, Jeff. The rest of you should follow Jeff’s example and vote for my song! You’ve got ten votes, you can spare one!

Comment by Peter Panic — April 22, 2006 @ 6:09 pm

OOO! I like this one…Its pretty good.

Artist:Louden Swain

Captain Ahab’s “Snakes on the Brain”.

One of the only soundtrack-worthy productions, and it’s subversively hilarious. Should replace something on the top 10, in my opinion.

Comment by blaqphli — April 22, 2006 @ 6:44 pm

I’ll say this for that hollywood guy and the former fat boys, at least they recorded their shit in a studio and it doesn’t sound like a crappy garage band.

I tried to listen to most of the bands with more than 20 votes, and wow, those executives are gonna laugh most of this stuff out of the competition.

Zachery’s was ok at first, but just got kinda gay midway through.

John Elkins?!?!?!?! what the hell is that.

Runaway Phoenix sucked.

50412 sounds awful.

The Guesstimates sound like a folk band from hell. This is a Samuel L. Jackson action movie not Garden State.

Wizerds of Rhyme = awful.

WHITE PEOPLE…IF YOU CANNOT RAP, DO NOT WHIP OUT FRUITY LOOPS AND CUT A RAP TRACK.

Which brings me to the leader…Futuristic Sex Robot. Your track won’t make it for so many reasons. Its obvious you have either a huge group of fans or somethign else going on, but the track is awful. The lyrics kinda funny, but the drum samples are awful, the music isn’t anything, your hook doesn’t stick in the head, and you do not rap on the beat. you sound like a bad vanilla ice.

Like i said, I’ve heard two tracks that sound like you could pick up an actual soundtrack and hear them on there. And hollywood.mp3 isn’t gonna get picked. My $.02

Comment by Jeff Timbern — April 22, 2006 @ 7:18 pm

Out of the ones in the top ten, my favorite is Former Fat Boys. They managed to work in references to He-man, Good Burger, and Sharks on a Rollercoaster. And I can just imagine that playing over the credits.

Now, outside the top ten, I love Louden Swain’s “Here Come the Snakes”. It’s one of the few songs I’ve heard (and I’ve listened to way too many in the past few days) that is clearly inspired by the film, but isn’t so overt about it. I think they actually only use the word “Snakes” once.

Comment by Erik Redin — April 22, 2006 @ 8:19 pm

OK I wanna respond to Jeff up there …

First off no one is cutting a god damn record deal with this contest. Its about the New Line PR department letting the fan community get in on the fun. Supporting the already immense amount of stuff that fans have made out there.

Secondly this community and especialy this blog have proven themselves with the ability to gather media attention. And thats something that New Line will not laugh about. Trust me they’ll put something like The guesstimates song or even FSR’s song in there if the fan community cries out for it. I bet ya the head of New Line studios would come out dressed as a monkey and dance if these different blogs commanded him to. They have already kept the title, added dialogue, and new R scenes at the fans request. A song like FSR’s is gonna be easy for them.

Thirdly it sounds like you just don;t like the material thats in the top 10. Hey thats cool I know alot of people that are in the same boat (including myself). Know what they are doing? Promoting the songs that they do like on other boards and blogs, not whining that they don’t like rap.

So my point is this Jeff Timbern…no one cares whether these songs belong on an actual sound track its about the artist embracing the spirit of all things SoaP! (which I feel the FSR and a good portion of the top 10 songs do)

Comment by snakecharmer — April 22, 2006 @ 8:46 pm

Man. Futuristic sex robotz WTF? I hate that shit. I listened to it because it was #1 on the votes expecting it to be pretty funny but all I got from the song was pissed off. Generic “silly” rap song about snakes on a plane? Sounds like shitty SNL sketch. Like that narnia shit. But I guess people seem to like that. We need something better than that. Sorely and thoroughly let down.

Comment by Dusty — April 22, 2006 @ 9:02 pm

I wish that skit had never been made.

Comment by legit h — April 22, 2006 @ 9:11 pm

Ok well sorry the first one of these is only coming out now today but..

UPDATE!

Well there is little change in the top ten but competition is getting fierce for the number 10 spot so get more people to vote if ya wanna move the songs you do like up the list. *cough* Jenny’s midnight Screamatorium *cough*

10. Wizardz of Rhyme w/Planes on a Snake 124 votes (SOAP)
9. Runaway Pheonix with Snakes on a Plane 144 votes (SOAP)
8. Ben Rusch with Wash Your Mouth Out 144 votes (SOAP)
7. 50412 with Snakes on a Plane 154 votes (SOAP)
6. Zachery with Serious Problem 158 votes (SOAP)
5. Former Fat Boys with Snakes on a Plane 288 votes (SOAP)
4. John Elkins with Keep it Moving 210 votes (BS)
3. The guesstimates w/Two Snakes on a Plane 270 votes (SOAP)
2. Hollywood.mp3 at 370 votes (BS)
1. Futuristic Sex Robots w/Snakes on a Plane at 475 votes (SOAP)

Ben’s song has been changed to SOAP status after investigation. I’ll try to get more updates in before tonight and I’ll try to assemble the list of Fan favorite songs that people are plugging here. I like alot of the songs people are promoting like Peter Panic’s and Louden Swain’s

Dusty bro if ya like original comedy bro listen to Jenny’s midnight Screamatorium with Noodles with Teeth on the list. I just want to see New Line try and work that song somehow into the movie……

Comment by snakecharmer — April 22, 2006 @ 9:19 pm

I want someone to find out what the hell John Elkins is all about. Either the man owns tagworld or he has a horde of fans in his closet.

Comment by snakecharmer — April 22, 2006 @ 9:25 pm

I really like B for Brontosaurus, “Warm Blood (Snakes on a Plane”. Someone mentioned Louden Swain’s track as being inspired by the movie, but not overtly about it, and I think this one does that well, too. Those are among the few I’ve heard that actually sound like a soundtrack song, instead of a joke song about the movie. Give B for Brontosaurus a vote, the New Line people should hear it!

Comment by Jack — April 22, 2006 @ 9:42 pm

Ifihadahifi are huge fans (their drummer introduced me to SoaP way back in august) and submitted their most appropriate song to the contest. Check out Ifihadahifi’s “(The HiFi vs.) Potential Energy.”

Comment by M'ris — April 22, 2006 @ 10:25 pm

OK folks this is coming at ya

UPDATE!

Well some people’s songs are climbing on the list so obviously promotion helps as mentioning your song here seems to get it votes. So with out further ado the top ten

10. Runaway Pheonix with Snakes on a Plane 144 votes (SOAP)
9. Ben Rusch with Wash Your Mouth Out 145 votes (SOAP)
8. Nascence with Black votes 157 (?)
7. Zachery with Serious Problem 158 votes (SOAP)
6. 50412 with Snakes on a Plane 159 votes (SOAP)
5. John Elkins with Keep it Moving 225 votes (BS)
4.. Former Fat Boys with Snakes on a Plane 234 votes (SOAP)
3. The guesstimates w/Two Snakes on a Plane 284 votes (SOAP)
2. Hollywood.mp3 at 378 votes (BS)
1. Futuristic Sex Robots w/Snakes on a Plane at 479 votes (SOAP)

Ok Wizardz of Rhyme have left the list but are not forgotten in the mean time we get the addition of Nascence….ok I tried to listen to these guys’ song but I can’t easily figure out what the hell its about (hell I can barely understand the lyrics). They have SoaP related stuff on their website, but is it for real? I have no idea….so i’ll leave it up to the rest of you to decide their tag. oh and I messed up Former Fat Boys numbers earlier was a typo I didn’t catch. they should be correct now. Good luck and keep voting. By the way I apologise to Jeff up there when I snapped. Just tired of seeing people not promoting the songs they want and complaining about the songs that are getting voted.

[...] As snakecharmer points out “Wizardz of Rhyme have left the list but are not forgotten in the mean time we get the addition of Nascence” which may or may not be Snakes on a Plane related.  It appears to be something of a judgement call. [...]
