Snakes on an Official Trailer (UPDATED)
March 17th, 2006 at 1:42 am

UPDATE (3/17/06 at 5:08pm) — I’ve gotten more than one phone call today from people at New Line asking me to clarify that this trailer is not the official teaser trailer for the film, it was put online merely for the songwriting contest at Tagworld. The CG is not representative of how the snakes will look in the final cut. The OFFICIAL official teaser trailer will apparently be coming out in about a month. I’ll be out of town for the remainder of the weekend, so updates will be sparse.

“Enough is enough, I’ve had it with these snakes.”

Wow, I don’t know if I missed this in the last post, or if the page has changed in the last few hours, but at the bottom of the TagWorld site linked from the official Snakes on a Plane website is the first official trailer to hit the net. Of course, we’ve had unofficial trailers before, but it’s nice to see something real.

And I thought it would be hard to hit a snake with a Taser… I was clearly wrong.

Got your tux picked out yet?

The snake catching Sammy J’s taser in the face is priceless. I’m loving this trailer more and more as I watch it. Also, great job on the snakesonablog.com, it’s been very informative (and I only found it today!). I’ll have to go through the archives.

Actually, the YouTube link has been taken down due to a ToS violation. Dammit. I knew I shouldn’t have refreshed it to see how many views it was up to since this morning when it was a measley 5000-ish.

“Enough is enough… I’ve had it with these snakes.”

You can tell that when he says that, there is a weird cut-off point between the words “these” and “snakes.” Sounds like they cut something out… it just doesn’t sound like it’s flowing. They probably cut out him saying “I’ve had it with these MOTHERFUCKIN snakes!!!”

That would rule so hard.

Comment by Jim — March 18, 2006 @ 12:26 am

I noticed that too, Jim. What else could the missing words be but “MOTHERFUCKING”?

[...] This clip is purportedly from Samuel L. Jackson’s dialogue in the movie and includes some of the dialogue we heard in the non-trailer/trailer and expands upon it a little bit in each direction.  It seems like people are going to get what they want to hear. And it seems as though reader Jim was correct in his analysis of the dialogue… good job on that. [...]

Hell yeah! It is all about Samuel L. Jackson baby! Can’t wait to see it and enjoy the fun!

Comment by Ann — March 25, 2006 @ 2:58 am

You have got to be shitting me. Its not making any attempt to be anything more than what it says. This could be the greatest cult film ever, or a rediculous flop. Or both.

But I digress. HOLY SHIT.

AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! SNAKES ON A PLANE!!!!!!!!! THERE IS A GOD AND HE IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!

[...] Anyway, the other interesting thing is that Ellis confirms that Samuel L. Jackson will be saying that he’s “tired of these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane!” So, it seems like the guesses from readers about the line in the non-trailer/trailer were correct. [...]

Man oh man… I thought I had my fill with lame movies about snakes, ala Anacondo. But this takes the cake, or so I thought.. untill I realized how PERFECTly funny this actually is! Sam Jackson, a plane, a royal with cheese, a monologue, snakes, his patented scream technique, the absurd, and him with a gun and an attitude = boxoffice gold! This will really be something I think everyone will have to see for the humor of the absurd. And I am sure that is a movie audience I want to witness firsthand. Kudos on the movie, and even more upon us viral internet addicts who are thrilled we will have something to collectively share.

Comment by JinRyu — April 9, 2006 @ 11:24 pm

[...] I’m really a big fan of the first one, which I know was submitted to Tagworld. The second one makes use of real Samuel L. Jackson dialogue from both his NPR interview and the unofficial/official trailer. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the third the one yet… any good? [...]

This will Be the greatest film that I will EVER see until I watch something else!

Comment by John Deer — April 16, 2006 @ 5:44 pm

I was just about to comment on the trailer, how Samuel L. is OBVIOUSLY saying something in addition to “these…snakes” because of the editing, but good man Jim beat me to it a while ago, so I’ll pick on something else about the trailer–

—several people think Samuel L. is hitting someone with the snake. After watching it over and over, it looks more to me like he is beating the snake on the seat NEXT TO THE GUY in order to subdue it–why would he hit a guy with a snake? Wouldn’t it make more sense to let the dude get bit?? Anyway, that’s my take on it. And if I’m wrong, it will be VERY cool, and I’ll buy a poster for everyone here. Sure I will. Right after I get Samuel L. to sign each one. ;-)

Comment by Armitage112 — May 8, 2006 @ 3:20 pm

I am very disapointed that when I try to view the trailer using the Opera web browser that it is incompatible, especially since it holds closer to web standards than any of the ones it suggests.

Other than that, great site.

[...] David Ellis has given an interview to Bloody-Disgusting.com, where he talks about Snakes on a Plane. Some pieces of information revealed include the budget ($30 million), the official trailer release date (sometime in May), who greenlit the extra-vulgar extra-gorey reshoots (the president of New Line), and his thoughts on the unofficial/official trailer: Yes, we had over 500 real, non-venomous snakes as well as some CGI snakes. The trailer, which is currently making the rounds on the Internet, is rather rough. The shot of the woman with the snake coming out of her blouse needs tweaking as do a few others – when we’re finished with post, all of the snakes will be photo-real. Our visual effects teams, Hybrid, led by Erik Henry, and Asylum FX, are hard at work. [...]
