Snakes on an Official Website II
March 16th, 2006 at 9:16 pm

There’s been a lot of action at the official Snakes on a Plane website in the last few days. Yesterday the site changed from it’s original graphic to a new, more evil looking graphic. Today it’s changed graphics yet again and actually added a little bit of content. Here’s the graphic progression from oldest to newest:

We seem to have transitioned from an evil logo, to more of an adventure story, Indiana Jones-esque logo. Ok, I guess. I admit I liked the evil logo better, and maybe even the original logo the best. It had the same level of bluntness as the title itself. Anyway, in addition to the new logo we also have a link to the “Fan Site of the Week” which points to: http://www.tagworld.com/snakesonaplane .

This is the first time we’ve had any content on the official website, so it’s interesting. The graphic above has the first new picture from the film we’ve seen in a while, which has Samuel L. Jackson straddling the aisle with a Taser in his hand. Tasering snakes seems like it would be difficult.

The Tagworld site is a contest for songwriters. Submit your song, any genre, and let the fans vote for it. The top 25 will be submitted to New Line who will pick their favorite, at which point the rules are unclear as to what happens:

…the winning Music Track will appear on or be heard in connection with, the soundtrack album for the Picture, and any other related materials as determined by New Line and TagWorld.

I have no idea what “heard in connection with” the soundtrack means. Well anyway, we’ve got a lot of good songs out there already, I’d heavily lobby anyone who’s produced one to submit it (especially the Subatomic Warp guys).

2 questions:

1, why don’t they own “snakesonaplane.com?”

2, why aren’t YOU the goddamn fan site of the week?!

Comment by jbg — March 17, 2006 @ 2:18 pm

Yeah, true dat. You should totally be the fansite of the week…

Cause this is the fan site of the *year.*

The reason they do that is the same reason they do everything else. Ever watch trailers, or even get there early enough to watch trailers? Well, I noticed it’s allways movietitle-movie.com…. no mattter WHAT movie it is.

I think they’re holding out for another fansite of some sort.

Besides, I was up early this morning anyways and came across the snakes on a plane movie site again. They have SOUND now… OOO…. The HTML gets more and more complex! Sounds kinda like, guess what? A plane… no snakes audio for right now… but you never know.

*still misses the evil snakes eye snakes on a plane thing*

[...] Despite my initial misgivings, Tagworld holds that they do indeed have a strong, self-motivated, interest in working to get the winner of the contest into the movie. [...]

[...] I don’t think I’ve posted a rap song before, and today I’m posting three.  The first two of these were submitted to the Tagworld contest. If these are indicative of the quality of the Tagworld submissions, I’m really looking forward to hearing the winners. Serious Problems by Zachary SoaP by Geoff [...]

Snakes on a What?
Snakes on a Blog documents my quest to attend the Hollywood premiere of Snakes on a Plane. If I'm really lucky, this blog will do more than just document the quest, it will aid it. Read my first and second pleas.
