Hey, finally a GREAT fan trailer!

The other Snakes on a Blog pointed me to this blog posting where Shane has made a Snakes on a Plane teaser trailer. He took music from Requim for a Dream, video from Flight 93 and audio from Sam Jackson’s NPR interview to make this awesome trailer:

Holy sh*t on a plate, Christ! This is amazing! As a friend of the project I absolitely can not believe the buzz that’s been drummed up so far for a movie that hasn’t even been marketed yet. Newline does it again.

Simply brilliant.

Comment by Communist Spy — February 23, 2006 @ 11:25 am

…but all the buzz for the movie is really just mass disbelief. No one in their right mind thinks this will be a good movie.

Comment by Charles — February 24, 2006 @ 11:26 pm

Wrong again Charles.

This movie will destroy your face, and likely all of your childrens faces too. I advise you buy them masks on your next shopping expedition at risk of severe facial pwnage.

Comment by Sam — February 25, 2006 @ 10:07 am

My only regret about this film is that I wasn’t able to take part in “Snakes on a Plane”.

This is going to be the definition of hilarity.

Comment by Guy Chapman — March 23, 2006 @ 10:59 pm

Well put Sam,
I think its safe to say that not only with this movie destroy everyone’s face, but their pudding and Sony PSP’s as well.

Comment by Huntley — March 25, 2006 @ 12:45 am

This is the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard. The only point of this whole movie is to exhibit the strength of Word of Mouth marketing and internet niche marketing. You could not pay me to see this movie. … and I work for an airline.

Comment by J. Kenney — March 27, 2006 @ 3:41 pm

Don’t be a square Kenney. That’s the reason this movie will be revered; beause it is stupid! Let me remind you of another little film which was watched because of its absurdity: Napolean Dynamite. Except this movie will have a whole lot of ass-kicking (snake ass kicking that is). Damn Snakes!

Comment by Josh — March 27, 2006 @ 11:31 pm

This preview is pretty much the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.

Comment by B.S. Vance — March 28, 2006 @ 3:58 am

I loved the trailer you did. It was better done than the movie. Often showing less is a better ploy than showing more, I wish the movie industry would learn that and stop giving away the best parts of the movie in the trailer. Still, who can not see a movie about snakes on a plane even if I’ve seen clips and the snakes are badly cgi’d in place. Guess the actors didn’t want to have a live Russel’s viper on their lap. Too bad. :)

Comment by Bennett — March 28, 2006 @ 3:31 pm

So it’s ok for you asswipes to get excited for something that takes the lives of those lost in the tragedy of 9/11, re-edit a trailer for the movie flight 93-a bad decision by Universal- and throw some shittly sounding Jackson dialogue in…ooooohhh, so cool. Beware the next time you fly….Kharma can be deadly.

Comment by YOU IDIOTS!!! — March 29, 2006 @ 7:00 pm

The best SoaP trailer is on google videos. It is the best because I made it.

Comment by Dan — March 30, 2006 @ 1:55 pm

I cant stop laughing , I cant believe this is even being made!
Seriously, this is like some shit Pam Grier wouldve done in the ’70’s!

Check out all the ideas for sequels on imdb.com that readers have submitted ,LMAO!

I mean , people are right to see the metaphor of 9/11 & other air tragedies, maybe its meant to be allegorical about what happened. After I see this movie , maybe I’ll understand who these characters are supposed to represent in light of recent events. We’ll see. Such is the proganda machine that Hollywood is. Every story you see is telling you something that has or is gonna happen , but thru fiction , made fact.

Im all for willing suspension of disbelief & shit but come on, how you gonna get some snakes on a muthafuckin plane when you cant even bring a cigarette lighter on board?
I dont think you can put different species of poisonous snakes together , they’d be too busy biting each other. If they are flying from Honolulu , the snakes would have to be from somewhere else, Hawaii doesnt have poisonous snakes.

Lordy.
holes in this story you can drive a truck thru.

I have to admit its great to be able to laugh about snakes , I m from Chattanooga like Samuel L. ,growing up on a farm, snakes are no laughing matter especially when you are berry pickin ,copperheads & rattlers lie in wait for birds that feed from the bushes. Water moccasins are near the rivers, so you had to watch for them while swimming. So Im terrified of snakes, any kind. dont think they make good pets either.

The scariest snake movie I have ever seen is Ssssss… with Strother Martin & Dirk Benedict from’74. They shouldve just remade that, theyve remade every other 70’s horror flick. Quite poorly, I might add….

I hope Im somewhere near a drive in movie theatre come Aug. cuz thats the best place to see junk like this.

After Dave Chappelle’s parody , Jackson’s performance is right on point.

Excuse me, stewardess, Ill have a Samuel Adams, please.
Uhm, I ‘ll have a Samuel Jackson , please.
Oh wow. I’ll have a Samuel Jackson too.

GET READY BITCHES, COMIN AUG. 2006
SNAKES ON A MUTHAFUCKIN PLANE!!!
MMMmmm, Bitch!
That ’s some scary muthafuckin shit right there!
It’ll make ya scream!
You’ll laugh yourself to death!!
You might even bite a nigga or 2!!!

Can you stop yelling @ me?

NO!! CUZ THATS HOW I TALK!!!
DID YOU SEE SNAKES ON A PLANE?
A MUTHAFUCKIN SNAKE BIT ME!!!

I love this site , funny as hell, you gotta laff , some poor sap in LA has written the most brilliant script about the human condition since “The Color Purple” & is working 3 jobs to pay the bills while New Line is busy greenlighting “Snakes On A Plane”.

Ay yi yi, …..

Comment by DJ Tenn. — April 1, 2006 @ 6:26 am

That was amazing.

Comment by OtakupunkX — April 3, 2006 @ 9:38 am

The only thing as funny as this is “The End of the World” video and Ebaum’s World.

I hate fuggin’ snakesssssssss!!!!!!! Can hardly wait to see the movie. One time the cats brought in a worm snake (small, silvery) to the apartment. We tore the place up looking for it at 11pm. 4 hours later we were still looking for it. We even called a neighbor over to help us. We didn’t get any sleep that night. Or for 3 days afterward. We are so pathetically AFRAID of snakesS! baaa haaa haaa!!

Comment by Silvana — April 5, 2006 @ 12:51 am

This is “fun” gore on the level of George Ramero’s “Night of the Living Dead” series of films. Samual Jackson himself admitted on NPR that he decided to do the film because it’s fun, creepy, gory, dumb and hilarious.

Comment by Space Cadet Carl — April 10, 2006 @ 1:04 pm

the trailer.. what is that song.. i can’t put my finger on where it’s from.

and the movie.. i am at a loss for words

Comment by Kate — April 13, 2006 @ 5:02 pm

The song was originally from Requiem for a Dream. I dunno the title of it - it’s been all over the place in trailers since then. Even LOTR used it in a trailer. I do know it’s by Clint Mansell.

Speaking of trailers, this one is lame. Using the Flight 93 radar images from the upcoming “lets see if we can make a buck off of a tragedy” movie is cheap and offensive.

There aren’t even any motherfucking snakes in it. The music is the only part that makes it cool. Without it, this trailer blows.

Comment by Bubba — April 14, 2006 @ 7:23 am

Personally, I couldn’t understand any of the Sam Jackson audio in that. Maybe if the music had been backed off a little… I don’t know. It would have been nice if the footage were a little more varied than just the radar and the blurry footage, but hey, I don’t even know where to start when it comes to making a video like this, so what do I know? Nice effort with the suspenseful atmosphere.

Comment by Synchro — April 14, 2006 @ 5:56 pm

There was a 3 minute run about this film and this Blog on CNN, there seems to be a huge Marketing an PR effort behind this film. It’s an inovative way to get a movie out there.

Comment by Jason — April 19, 2006 @ 5:32 pm

this trailer sucks. just because you use a great fucking song from a great fucking movie doesnt mean your trailer’s any good. best trailer…yeah right! youre just lucky that 99 percent of people are idiots. BORING!!!

Comment by lorman — April 19, 2006 @ 10:48 pm

most of the critics of this fan video are morons… this is not an actual add for the movie, its an absurd fan joke that they cleverly crafted by cutting a slice of current controvesial cinema culture. rule #1 of a spoof– spoof something thats deadly serious. good job shane.

Comment by greg — April 21, 2006 @ 2:57 am

This is seriously amusing.

Comment by Duncan — April 21, 2006 @ 8:37 am

Snakes… On a Plane!!!???!!! Now Hollywood has finally decided to make something worth watching. Enough with the so called “serious” crap meant to preach to us. What America needs now more than anything is pure entertainment. After all that’s what we pay for when going to the movies. Maybe they have finally woken up in LA LA Land and realized that America just wants to have fun!!!! Congrats on making a movie that I don’t have to think too hard about or try and deciper the political message from.

Comment by Cheryl — April 21, 2006 @ 12:26 pm

Had to write after reading DJ Tenn’s post because I’m from the same state originally. All the damned snakes mentioned — copperheads, cottonmouths, water moccasins, rattlers, hell, all in Tennessee, all potentially deadly, and just the though of any of ‘em used to scare the muthafuckin’ SHIT outta me.

The damned movie is BRILLIANT in every way or we wouldn’t give a damn enough to type the words you and I have read and that you’re now reading.

For the folks that are offended by anything about this movie I say “CHILL.”

“Not a shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious.” (Brendan Gill)

Comment by george of the asphalt jungle — April 21, 2006 @ 1:10 pm

This is crazy. Yet, I’ll be right there in the audience. The earlier post mentioned SSSSSS. I saw that when it fist came out. I was just a kid then. Great movie.

Comment by Jeffrey W. Bennett — April 21, 2006 @ 1:28 pm

The Bush Administration has announced that it is taking steps to make the airways safe from snakes. The Dept. of Homeland Security has just inked a $37 million dollar contract with Halliburton - the company formerly known as “Dick Cheney’s Ho” - to provide reptile abatement services at airports all across America.

No, seriously, I like this movie because (believe it or not), it makes fun of the Flight 93 movie, which is clearly timed for politcal purposes to scare the moviegoing public before the elections this fall. I fully expect “Snakes on a Plane” to do 3x the business of the “Flight 93″ movie, which I’m sure was bought and paid for by the investment arm of the Republican Party.

I think that there has never been a better time for a movie like, “Snakes on a Plane!”

I read about the title in a german newspaper (Link: http://www.spiegel.de/kultur/kino/0,1518,412948,00.html) and had to visit this blog!

I hope, that they will release the movie also in germany!!

[...] BoingBoing’s Xeni Jardin gave United 93 a glowing review. The trailer on the official site seems pretty classy, but all of the titles and fades in between footage are distractingly similar to this fan trailer for Snakes on a Plane (yet another terrorist film that may seem tastelessly early), to the point where I actually wonder which came first. And in a moment of brilliant trailer crossover zen, this other fan trailer (warning: Samuel L. Jackson with hair) includes a clip from the trailer for United 93. And for those of you who read Sam’s recent post about the dismal wasteland of Hollywood, here’s a hard-hitting examination of how the concept for SoaP was developed. The mind reels. I played my still unfinished new song about the subject at the Magic Bean’s open mic night tonight, and the crowd went wild. Of course, the audience at the anarchist coffeehouse love a good media-bashing protest song, and after I sat back down discussion began in earnest about what “really happened” that day. I love writing songs that spark conversation, even if it’s heated conversation about things other than my songs. [...]

German release date is August 24th, the German title is (as yet) unknown. Since Germans traditionally suck in translating movie titles, it’s probably NOT going to be “Schlangen im Flugzeug”.

This movie would be nothing without Samuel L. Jackson. I’m nore excited about this movie than I have ever been about any movie ever. I am seeing it the day it comes out. I’m not surprised its getting so much attention, its the simple fact that its different from every other movie out there.

Comment by Timbotron — July 15, 2006 @ 6:30 am

I’m a full-fledged snakeonaplaniac, but I think using footage from United 93 was tasteless and just all-out wrong.

Comment by Steve the Pirate — July 19, 2006 @ 7:00 am

so i love pirates and my friend from drivers ed class name is steve and he wants to be a pirate and i hope its not one in the same cause taht would suck. if united 93 footage needs to be used to promote SoaP, o well. its a worhty cause. AYE MATEY?

Comment by snakes in glenmoore — July 21, 2006 @ 9:52 pm

now steve, using footage from united 93 may not have been the best thing to use for this trailer because, well, it’s a very patriotic movie. however, snakes on a plane, mainly samuel l. jackson, will do whatever it takes to get this movie across the world and if people think they’re watching a trailer for united 93, they might just watch it, only to be surprised by snakes on a plane. however, http://youtube.com/watch?v=6oplQFAlk8g&search=snakes%20on%20a%20plane i think that trailer is so much better than the trailer used for this discussion. if you have a problem with that trailer, well then i just don’t believe that you are a true snakes on a plane fan.

Comment by matt — July 21, 2006 @ 9:59 pm

i agree with matt. He seems to have his head on straight and i would credit that to his high school education. I wish we all could go to that wonderful high school, wherever it is, and just be educated with the fien reason he has gained. Also, this boy’s wisdom and fine taste in movie trailers must have been helped by a good group of friends and possibly his brother. Thank You Matt, we need more devoted fans liek yourself.

Comment by snakes in glenmoore — July 22, 2006 @ 1:30 pm

All you people who are offended by this trailer because it used footage from Flight 93 let me just say this…

I pray you don’t make your way over to http://www.youtube.com and search for the trailer “Snakes on Flight 93.”

It makes this trailer look like a walk through Disney Land.

Snake On A Plane or SOAP…

Internet aphorism…
Sentence precluded of any serious meaning
If only the very serious…meaning of life….
Over-reaching the foremost tentacles
Down the deep end of the wide web
Cruising like the riding zeitgeist.

For this is the Google age, we enter a new page
Clicking away at every turning point.
We are mere mortals and should not be on a plane
For this is the moment when running from the joint

The only ghost moved on the femme fatale
She, bless her, decided to refuse the rascal

Fixing up and looking sharp
Holding the mirror like a true lady
I unleashed my lyrics in a welcoming park
I have your snake down in my plane.
I never said it would be so easy
Her smile made you feel alive

Is it possible for a snake to be on two different planes?
Was my opening chat-up line…
I could never see the reality sign
Will Hoxton ever, ever, ever be cool again?
And my head never felt so much pain
I could never, never, see, she was a real dame

And she replies: Are you always so sneaky?
Maybe cheeky, never monkey!

She smirked….almost…
Am I in?
At any cost
Magic grin…I am the boss
Think…positive like a butterfly

She gazes…Make a move?
She oozes…should I fade

I start campaigning…for my own party:
Word flowing like a proper arty..

You are the candidate, of my heart…
I’ll fly your colors to the other end of the earth
…..
.
It’s alright I’ll stay on the plane, for the rest of the flight.
She replied
Tough cookie I thought…
Browne sausage she replied
D’you know a Chinese bookie? I uttered
’My favorite dish’ she smiled

Like I said, the snake was not for turning…hmmm just maybe for fuming
First the snake then the plane…how did it get sooo lame?
She asked.
My cover was blown ‘pff’ confetti-style…
My pride? Down the sink… ‘Sssh’ Linguini style
I’ve been plucking chicken like you all my life.
I’ve been staring at you all the flight
‘Get your snake out of here!’
The plane was still full …of other Snakes…

END.
