Snakes on a Blog, ASAP

The ASAP AP story ran last night. I hate seeing words that I’ve said out-loud printed. They never end up on paper the way they sounded in my head. Aside from that, the article is pretty nice. I do like the phrase “irony-philic.”

I don’t know if the story is going to be picked up by print newspapers, but if swarms of new people should show up in the next few days, you should take a look at Fan Art, Fan Songs, Fan Comics, Fan Shirts and Fan Videos.

Enjoy.

[...] A few weeks ago I was interviewed for and quoted in an AP story that ran in the ASAP, an offshoot of the AP geared towards a younger audience, about Snakes on a Plane.  There’s another story up today from a different writer about the film’s popularity.  This time, perhaps wisely, they interviewed Harry Knowles of AintItCoolNews, here’s part of what he had to say: Once the film formally got announced as existing people online just sort of jumped to it … All the really weird Internet stuff started showing up — just random college Web sites and kids’ Web sites playing with the name “Snakes on a Plane.” There’s these really, really funky t-shirts that you can find on eBay that are just trying to make it look as cheap and funky as possible because that makes it look cooler. Now it’s got a very high-profile name brand sort of attached to it. A lot of people are looking forward to it in a “it’s got to be so bad it’s good” sort of way. [...]

[...] Ryan Pearson (who was the first reporter to interview me, and has subsequently posted several stories about or mentioning Snakes on a Plane) interviewed director David Ellis and screenwriter John Heffernan and put together a few plot and casting details that appear to be new. For example, Samuel L. Jackson’s role was originally envisioned for a younger actor (Taye Diggs or Blair Underwood). There’s also a short audio clip from the film’s composer discussing the difficulties of doing audio for the film, and this picture of David Ellis: [...]

Snakes on a What?
Snakes on a Blog documents my quest to attend the Hollywood premiere of Snakes on a Plane. If I'm really lucky, this blog will do more than just document the quest, it will aid it. Read my first and second pleas.
